Grammy award winning singer Mary J. Blige was spotted at the debut for the limited-edition FFAWN + Catherine Malandrino capsule collection of T-shirts at Bloomingdale?s flagship store in NYC.
The diva, shown above rocking renowned fashion designer Catherine Malandrino’s creation, also appeared on Late Night with David Letterman where she graciously discussed her road to stardom:
I made a tape at the Galleria Mall singing a song called ‘caught up in the rapture” by Anita Baker (my favorite artist at the time) and I passed the tape on to my mother’s boyfriend…who knew an artist by the name of Jeff Red…who passed the tape on the Andre Harrell… who then came to my house and got a free concert.
I guess I wasn’t as ‘clean’ or as ‘crisp’ as say either a Whitney or Mariah at the time. I was more street smart and kind of edgy. So people weren’t ready for me. Turns out they were ready for me…

Immediately following her interview with Dave, Mary performed concert that was shown LIVE on the “interweb” (as Dave called it) taped from the Ed Sullivan theater in New York.
The concert is a part of the continuing “Live on Letterman” web series and the Grammy Award-winning artist performed songs from her recently released album, Stronger With Each Tear.
