In case you missed it, here are a few clips of Whitney Houston’s Oprah interview, which aired today (September 14th). Whitney appeared in a secluded theatre and quietly confided in Oprah about her former drug use and her tumultuous relationship with singer Bobby Brown, ex-husband and father to Whitney’s only child, Bobbi Kristina.
Oprah’s sincerely allows Whitney to freely discuss her demons. She talks about her first meeting Bobby and expresses a ton of emotion during the discussion. She recalls how passionate their relationship was and how addicted she was to him, referring to Bobby as her “drug”. She spoke about the ?allure, the passion, the crazy love? during her early days with Brown and you could almost feel the intensity of her memories. Acknowledging that Bobby initially displayed a ?sweet, gentle tenderness,? she says that as her stardom exploded (sometime around the time of The Bodyguard), Brown’s insecurity and jealousy increased to hostility.
?He spit on me,? she said with quiet vehemence, as though reliving the degrading moment.
As for the well-known drug use, Houston tried to explain the combination of drugs she was taking during her worst times, and Oprah had her break it down. ?Follow me here, Oprah,? said Houston. She explained she was ?lacing marijuana? with rock cocaine.? ?I wasn?t getting high by myself,? she said. ?We were partners.?
All I know is… Whitney was “Whitney Houston” well before she and Bobby got together. She was always the bigger star so that part of her argument is a tad bit iffy. Everyone’s always blaming Bobby for Whitney’s downfall…and now she’s on Oprah pretty much blaming him too. I think she needs to own up for her own bad choices and move forward.
