This morning a U.S. District Court Judge sentenced T.I. to one year and one day under his negotiated plea deal. T.I. will receive credits for his good behavior that will most likely cut the sentence to about 298 days (a little less than 10 months). Upon release, he will remain under home confinement for 60 days, and he will have to perform another 470 hours of community service. The sentence also includes a $100,000 fine.
Prior to the judge imposing his sentence, Tip had several Atlanta notables to speak on his behalf. Former Atlanta Mayor and United Nations Ambassador Andrew Young, Bishop Eddie Long of DeKalb County?s New Birth Baptist megachurch and Ex-DeKalb County CEO Vernon Jones also showed up for the hearing, saying he?s known the rapper for about eight years.
In Tip’s most Recent Road to Redepemption episode, he made it quite clear that he wants no visitors and that he prefers general population. Stating “Protective custody means everyone else gets to serve their time working out, watching tv, playing chess…while I on the other had, spends 23 hours a day in my cell…I can’t do that.”
T.I. has requested assignment to a federal facility near Atlanta, and he’ll have some extra quality time to spend with his family since he will not have to report before May 19. That’ll also give him some extra time to cruise around the “A” on his brand new Harley. Check out a few flix of Tip and his bike taken last night at Keri Hilson Exclusive Album Release Party below:
Tip chillin in the V.I.P. at Opera during Keri Hilson’s Atlanta album release party.
When they announced on the mic that he was in the building, I immediately checked my watch cause I knew he was just stopping through. Hell…dude has a curfew + he had a big day in court tomorrow!
..and I was right! He left not long after he showed his face. Hopping on his new Harley and jetting back to the southside.
Watch out for Tip and his Moto-crew! I’m sure you’ll be seeing them on sunny days.
