Breaking News - Former Atlanta Falcon Michael Vick has been offically sentenced to 23 months in jail for his role in a dog fighting operation.
The sentence, handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Henry E. Hudson, ended an eight-month legal odyssey for Vick that saw him go from NFL star and the face of the Atlanta Falcons franchise to a prison inmate. The sentence on federal felony charges means Vick, suspended indefinitely by the NFL, won’t play again until at least 2010. He still faces the league suspension. He has also been indicted in Virginia on state dogfighting charges and faces lawsuits from several banks. The Falcons are awaiting an arbitration ruling in an attempt to recoup $20 million in bonus money paid to Vick. (Source-AJC)
I’m kind of relieved because I thought it would be a lot more. Let’s keep Mike in our prayers….he’s gonna need it.
Sorry I haven’t posted this week…I’m still in mourning for T.I. aka Clifford Harris, Jr. I tried to show my support by going on a hunger strike until he is released (hoping I could lose 10 a few pounds this week), but my will power sucks! Now….I don’t know about you, but the thought of not eating for 6 days does not give you energy and creativity. Anyway, my hunger strike didn’t work….T.I.’s still locked up!
So…back to work I go! Here’s a recap of the events this week:
Last but not least, T.I. appeared in court today on federal gun charges. He pled not guilty and his attorneys have proposed that he be released on a $2.2 million bond and given house arrest. The judge in the case has agreed to consider the proposal and has given his attorneys another week to gather additional information before he rules. It has also been released that T.I. was allegedly in possession 2 and 1/2 pounds of weed on the day of his arrest. What I find terribly odd is that he is accused of admitting to a federal agent that he smoked the weed in preparation for BET Awards. OK…who besides me thinks this is all a bunch of B.S.?? Can you just imagine him sitting on the curb conversing with the feds and saying….”yeah, it’s mine….and I just smoked it”…? Whatever?!?!
“I bet you niggaz think I’m livin it up
Til you see polices laughin as they pickin me up
Went from seeing how many bitches I could fit in the truck
To three hots and a cot, is you kiddin or what?
Fuck how many millions I got, nigga, so what if I’m hot
When I got prices on my head, feds rushin my spot
A million haters want me dead, forced to carry a gat …”
I’m no longer disappointed in Michael Vick, just sad. I really feel bad for him. As broke as my a$$ is, I really can understand being in default on a loan, so I feel the empathy right here in my pocket heart for him.
A Canadian bank has filed a federal lawsuit against Vick claiming the disgraced quarterback defaulted on a $2.5 million loan taken out earlier this year. (Read More at msnbc.com)
It’s true. Mike Vick has agreed to plead guilty to a felony charge for his role in the management of a dogfighting ring that was headquartered at a Virginia property owned by the NFL star. He has signed his name on the dotted line, hence admitting that he lied to the Falcons’ owner, Arthur Blanks, when he denied participation. He is facing a maximum prison sentence of 5 years for the conspiracy conviction. Mike….we’re gonna miss you….
