Self-professed ‘mayor of Atlanta’ Jermaine Dupri gathered up all of his SoSo Def artists and headed to Atlanta’s city hall earlier today (January 15, 2013).
Dupri, the founder & CEO of SoSo Def, was joined by Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed as he held a press conference to reveal what is being billed as a huge historic event in Atlanta’s musical history.
The So So Def label was once home to platinum-selling acts such as Jermaine Dupri, Xscape, Bow Wow, Jagged Edge and Da Brat, and Dupri announced during the conference that they will celebrate 20 years of hit-making music by hosting at an All-Star Anniversary Concert on February 23rd!

Not only is it an honor to be able to stand here 20 years after our very first release in 1993 — Xscape’s #1 single ‘Just Kickin It’ – but it’s truly an achievement that we can bring everyone back together to celebrate over two decades of music excellence.
We also acknowledge 1992 as the year when So So Def Productions introduced to the world Kris Kross, who had everyone JUMPING,” said Dupri.
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed also cosigned Dupri’s enthusiasm by acknowledging the rich musical history of our great city…
Atlanta has a thriving music industry, and So So Def Recordings has been an important part of that legacy for the past two decades.
This milestone is another example of why Atlanta is the entertainment capital of the Southeast. I am pleased that So So Def has called our great city home for 20 years, and I wish the company continued success for many more years to come.

Latocha Scott & Tameka Scott (Xscape)…
In case you were wondering, Kandi has publicly said on more than one occasion that she’ll ‘NEVER’ do an Xscape reunion… not sure about Tameka ‘Tiny’ Cottle-Harris, but I’ll just go ahead and assume that since her husband T.I. said that cryptic speech in front of JD a few months back, that she won’t be participating either.
Dondria will probably be filling both of their roles during any Xscape performances.

The “One time only” Anniversary Concert will be held in February, but will be preceded by a series of events, including a private VIP dinner, a star-studded Anniversary party and a pre-concert reception.
A 20-song “Best of So So Def” compilation CD is also in the works for a June release.
