Judge Bensonetta Tipton-Lane, the Fulton County judge that ruled in Usher’s favor during Raymond’s bitter custody battle with his ex-wife Thas stepped down from the case.
This news comes amidst a ton of speculation and controversy regarding the fairness of her legal decision, and after an investigation was launched regarding alleged inappropriate activity between Usher’s counsel and the judge.

Lisa West, the attorney for Tameka Raymond, reportedly filed another motion asking the judge to turn over some unspecified emails and her request caused a firestorm down at Fulton County.
Due to the details in the motion, Judge Lane unceremoniously recused herself from the Raymond vs. Raymond case and an order was issued containing the following directive:
Court administrator is hereby directed to reassign this case to ANOTHER JUDGE.
Do you know what that means?
That means, Tameka will finally get her day in court under a judge that (hopefully) isn’t financially connected in anyway to the legal counsel for her ex-husband.

And from what I understand, all orders previously issued under Judge Lane, (ie the order for Usher to maintain “Primary custody”) will be re-tried under another judge.

Joint custody isn’t a bad thing… considering it’s what they had before USHER filed seeking sole custody.
Hopefully the two can finally manage to co-parent instead of battling each other.

With all due respect, Jalisa and others holding your sentiment, I believe the "A" in this blog stands for Atlanta. The news about the tragedy in Connecticut, not far from where I live, is on EVERY station (TV and radio). I believe Michelle is doing her job (quite well, if you ask me).
I want to cry first, with sadness, about the developments Michelle reported on this case which have shown our justice system is a place where dollars may sway decisions.

First let me say kudos to you ATLien for NOT posting on the horrific tragedy that happened today. Every minute the story changed…one minute the mom worked at the school the next she had no affiliation (maybe a volunteer). How do you report something that the “media” couldn’t even get right?! Nevertheless in my opinion this was not the place for that…many people took to their facebook pages, twitter and even stopped to pray in respect for the victims. Unless you were physically there that’s all you could do…pray.
I have said all along that I personally thought that Tameka’s legal team was not to be played with. Her attorney gave that Judge MORE than enough rope to hang herself with. Tameka’s attorney is a former Judge so that should have at least prompted Judge Lane to make sure she was being fair and unbiased. I personally think that when it is all said and done they will be right back at square one…joint custody. In the meantime folks will still hate Tameka (for breathing), Usher’s record sales with continue to resemble him skydiving and Grace will be somewhere sitting Indian-style with lit candles all around her, waving incense in the air as she hums for peace.

The motions are in the works if not already processed, joint custody will be resumed as it hasn’t even been a month or so since the children were finally turned over by Tameka to Usher in November, so the children will and should be returned to the custody of Tameka while this case is re-litigated.
This case is important not only to Tameka and her children but to all of us, not to have the court system bought and sold, totally corrupted by the likes of Usher and anyone with money.
Those boys do not need to be separated from their mother, especially after losing their brother and given to Usher full time because he’s spiteful, immature and dangerous. Remember Usher rammed his mother’s care, with her in it, three times, and she could have been killed, yet I guess he paid her off too, to not press charges.
Also, the court appointed psychiatrists should not be ignored as she said the children should remain with Usher and Usher’s psych evaluation was not good.

This judge made the correct decision by stepping down. However, no other judge is going to overturn her decision as it would not bode well for previous cases. The courts would be inundated with requests to rehear closed cases that were heard her in court. It has to be said that Tameka didn’t really strengthen her case for being the better parent by posting pictures of her drunk behind sleeping on her front stoop. What mother does that?

I think it is really sad that Tameka lost her child. I really have sympathy for her in that respect. But does that mean that she gets a free pass on all of her prior gold-digging antics? I read that someone else commented that Children should ALWAYS be with their mothers. WTF??? Fathers have rights too! Usher has every right to take her to court and ask for Full Custody. Maybe he doesn’t want anything like what happened to her son to happen to his two kids… We are such a Child Support culture. I have spoken to women that don’t care about anything but getting that check on time. Whether or not the Father sees the child is irrelevant! Sometimes its not for the best for a children to be with their mother. Why can’t men ever win? How about we just let the courts decide now that there is a non-biased judge.
