Shad Moss aka Lil Bow Wow was on cloud 9 last year when he got signed to Lil Wayne’s Young Money Cash Money Records but sadly, the only thing that he’s gotten since he put his name on the dotted line was a lousy t-shirt (and a few hats)!

Could it be that BowWeezy is disenchanted about his connection to Birdman and Weezy? It does seem like Shad reps Cash Money a whole lot harder than they “rep” him. But that’s just my observation…
Even though he’s still technically a youngster, Bow Wow is like a grandfather in the rap game. I personally think he should revamp his image and come back on some other sh*t like Kanye did with 808′s and Heartbreak.
His target audience have all grown up and moved on to the likes of Drake and Nicki Minaj and I don’t think Bow Wow could hold a candle to any of them right now.
Even though it would be kinda risky, Bow Wow releasing an ol’ “artsy” album with him rapping and singing on auto tune under his real name would be a much better bet than continuing as plain ol’ “Bow Wow”… (and that’s just my personal opinion).
Can Bow Wow ever be what he once was or should he totally “reinvent” Shad Moss?

I think he whines too much, but I also think he came into a family situation as an outsider. Young Money was already a crew when he decided to join the family. It might be a good idea for him to seriously consider stepping away from the rap game for a bit and focus on acting, at which he is actually very good…Bow Wow never really seemed to grow into himself as a rapper; somehow I never "believed" him when he got older. At 10, 12 years old, he had J.D. to write his rhymes and shape his image…now that he and J.D. parted ways and he’s all grown up and trying to be his own person, it’s just not working for some reason. If he took a hiatus from rap, when he returned, I agree with ATLien in that dropping the name Bow Wow and going with his real name Shad Moss might be a mature look that might do the trick if he tried to develop a mature sound and quit bouncing around from crew to crew trying to fit in. Hanging with Soulja Boy did nothing for him, and YMCMB ain’t got the time to pay him no attention, not when Drake and Nicki are the cash cows of the label. He seems to do pretty good with the acting/film. He should stick to that and put out a serious soundtrack with each project that way he can tackle his acting and rapping gig with one blow. Isn’t YMCMB soon to be branching out into other media? If they are trying to produce Evelyn Stank Lozada’s tell-all ho book then they can certainly get behind Bow Wow’s film and soundtrack endeavors.

Some of his singles have not been great lately. But their is only 1 Bow wow maybe he thought going to Cash money would bring him all that fame he once knew. Managing his money better would allow him time to plan a strategy . He has definitely got to grow as an artist at this point and realize everyone is doing the same thing. So people are naturally going to want to see and hear the new artist. It won’t be long Niki and Drakes flames will burn out. Just do some features. Take time to find who Chad Moss is………..
I agree. Features keep a lot of artists on the grind. Take Fantasia. I just can’t seem to get through a Fantasia CD,but when she’s featured? I go straight to that track cause I KNOW I’ll LOVE IT!! She NEVER fails.Most of today’s best artists are at their best when doing features. Bey,Tasia,Kanye,JZ even Macey Grey and NO ONE owns a Macey Gray CD that they’ve actually played through. Snoop Dog should pray to the "Feature God".

IMO, his signing with YMCMB was a terrible move. Then he started acting all "gangster" and whatnot, and people were really done. We don’t believe you. He does rep for them way harder than they do him. I remember watching a clip of BW, hitting up Weezy on his cell and the tone in Weezy’s voice was like "Why are you calling me?" Fastest phone call ever.
He should really back off of the gangster persona so much and soften it up a little. I think he would be received a lot better than he is now.

The only thing Bow had going for him when Snoop discovered him was he had an opportunity to takeover a market that was wide open. They needed a cute little kid for the kids with his style & bubble gum lyrics. I’m not sure why he parted from J.D,but he spent his entire youth with him and that connection is engrained in his whole brand. I think that YMCMB in pursuit of Bow was a clever ploy to end what was left of his withering career, because they Never intended on reviving his career or changing his image in the first place and he should have been suspicious of that instead of anxious to sign. Now Bow Wow is Bitter!
Michelle you lost me, grandfather of what game? All rap made after 1993 was gah-bage, not even hip-hop or real gangsta rap. Though I like Bow-wow when he first came out, he will never be on the same level as the SugarHill Gang, Kurtis Blow, Run D.M.C, Public Enemy or even come close to Wu-Tang, Common, Nas, Tu-pac and shall I say T.I. I do agree with you that he need to re-vamp his career and image. Young Money is a fad label, even their artists don’t bank on music only, they have their hand in other ventures.
