A Houston family member has reportedly sold a photograph of the deceased songstress to the National Enquirer, who unapologetically published the photo on the cover of their recent issue.

The chilling photograph shows Houston lying lying dead in her golden coffin, wearing a purple dress.
Whitney was also wearing a diamond brooch and earrings and according to the publication, the jewels were worth over $500,000.

The National Enquirer does not reveal who took the picture, but it appears to be taken by a cell phone.
Carolyn Whigham, the owner of the Funeral Home issued the following statement regarding the matter:
I have spoken with the family about this and they have asked me not to comment on the matter.

Whitney’s deathbed photos joins the list of other deceased superstars like Tupac Shakur, John Lennon, Gary Coleman and Elvis, who all had their deathbed and/or “coffin” photos sold to the highest bidder.
The Enquirer published a post-mortem photo of John Lennon on its cover back in 1980 and also one of Elvis in his coffin in 1977.
I don’t know about you, but I knew it was only a matter of time before Whitney’s coffin photo was released. Are we really surprised?

I am so DISGUSTED!!! The person that took this photo didn’t think about how this would effect her family better yet her daughter. This is so intrusive and disrespectful. My heart aches for her mother and daughter because it’s bad enough they lost Whitney so suddenly and now they have to deal with this. I know her mother and daughter were just mortified by this. In a way I kind of wished that her mother would have gone on and let the public view her body so that assholes like the person who took the picture and sold it could not make a profit from it. If the photo’ came from a very close family member, like Whitney’s daughter or her mother, to benefit one of them, than it does not bother me.
However, if the photo’ came from a hungry opportunist looking for financial gain, it is disgusting; and the National Enquirer should be boycotted, or at least this issue should be boycotted, for this photo’ being on the cover.

It’s funny how they allowed people that would sell her death photos to the media to attend the wake and most likely the funeral, yet Bobby and his children was disgracefully excluded from her home going celebration. Thanks ATL for the clip of "Being Bobby Brown" I loved seeing Whitney in her DIVA persona and she seemed to really take on an mothering role with Bobby other children. How has Whitney’s memory been desecrated on?? For ages people have taken pictures of the deceased in their caskets. I don’t think its disguisting that someone would do this, they saw an opprotunity to make a buck and they did. I will not past judgement, because i do not know what financial situation whoever took the picture is or was in. JMO.. desecrate was such a strong word to use.. What is sacred about a dead body (shell of a person)…
After seeing these pics and the description of what she wore,including $500,000 worth of jewelry. I would think that if her estate should move both her and her fathers remains to an exclusive cemetery in Atlanta,it would keep her remains safe from looters. The church and vacinity in which she was buried is very poor. Michael wasn’t buried near "Jackson Street". And to me,personally,she had his status in my heart.Having her funeral there is one thing,but people stormed the cemetery on the following Monday after news spread that cemetery gates were open and two troopers stood observing so no one could remove anything from her site,which looks just like anyone’s.Just flowers piled onto her grave. Now that they know what’s beneath these flowers,it will only be a matter of time til her grave is disturbed for the fortune reported she was buried with. This is a poor area,and even during interviews with celebrities coming out,all you could see in the background was graffiti. My son went and left flowers at the church two nights before the service and said he thought it looked like a war zone.
