Davis was pronounced dead at 11:08 p.m. last night, but his execution did not put to rest widespread doubts about whether he committed the crime for which he was punished.
Davis’ case was one of the most bitterly contested and controversial in Georgia history, as he has always maintained his innocence even to the final seconds of his death.
While Casey Anthony is somewhere sippin on a slurpie free as a bird, while the daughter she was accused of murdering lies in a grave, Troy Davis was murdered by our “justice system” even though huge doubt exists in his guilt.
As Davis was strapped to the lethal-injection gurney last night, he addressed the family of his alleged victim, stating:
“The incident that night was not my fault, I did not have a gun… I did not personally kill your son, father and brother. I am innocent.”
He then said “for those about to take my life, may God have mercy on your souls, may God bless your souls.”
Prior to Davis’ execution, protestors rallied outside the Georgia State Capital and thousands marched on the jail in Jackson, County Georgia where the execution was to take place.
Reverend Al Sharpton was amongst the protestors praying for a stay of execution that never came, as well as Antwan “Big Boi” Patton, Killer Mike, and many more.
Big Boi kept the world informed of the events through his twitter account, providing live minute-by-minute coverage throughout the protest.

Killer Mike rallys for change…
I’ve read about the Troy Davis case over the years, but was never fully aware of the racial implications of his case until now.
Considering the fact that time and time again “non-Black” individuals are treated differently by a justice system that we ALL have to abide by, one would hope and pray for equal treatment.
People like Casey Anthony get off for murder and convicted killers like Charles Manson (who has confessed to his crime and is often called “the most dangerous man alive”) are allowed to serve out the remainder of their lives behind bars.
A timeline of the main events in Davis’ legal saga (review here) that has dragged on for over 20 years, made Davis a poster child for death penalty abolitionists, unfortunately his sentence was carried out despite millions of signatures from all across the country.
Where is the justice in that?
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. ~ Martin Luther King Jr.
Major kudos to Big Boi, KillerMike, Reverend Al Sharpton and the thousands of protestors who traveled to Jackson, Georgia to save the life of Troy Davis. After 22 years Davis is finally free, but our battle for justice continues daily.

WHAT DO I THINK? ANOTHER BLK MAN DIED AT THE HANDS OF THE WHITE MAN AGAIN… SENSELESS, THAT’S WHAT I THINK. ANOTHER BLK MOTHER HAS TO BURY HER INNOCENT SON. THAT’s WHAT I THINK.
I watched live coverage on democracynow from about 6pm until the end. However we must know that this is NOT the end. We must fight the injustice and abolish the death penalty. As someone who has been on both sides of the fence…someone whose loved ones have been murdered as well as someone whose loved one murdered someone else, I can not say that I believe in death penalty in any case. We are all flawed human beings who should not be allowed to mete out such final justice. I would rather 100 blatantly guilty murderers not be executed than one innocent person be murdered by government. Every day I miss my cousins Tahnee, Donna, & my Aunt Lisa but killing their murderers would not heal any of the hurt I have experienced. It will not mitigate one ounce of my pain. My heart literally aches for the Davis & McPhail family and I pray that God give them a measure of peace to calm the storm in their hearts.
WYS SASHA DONT MAKE NO SENSE!
So sad!
These people DO NOT BELIEVE IN THE BIBLE! The very same bible that they tell you to put your hands on & swear & also say “So help me God”, but yet they will turn around & kill you. Eventhogh the bible CLEARLY states that God said, “Thy shal…l not kill & Vengence is mine said the Lord”. So the question here is this. Which or Who God are they telling you to ask for help when you say, “So help me god?” Because it sure as hell can not be the same God that you & I are sitting our natty azzes in church day in & day out worshipping! I’ll tell you which god they are worshipping. They are worshipping the DEVIL! And they are basically telling you to pray to your God & lets see if your God is stronger than our God & lets see if he is capable of saving your azz!
These people are LITERALLY making fun & mocking the bible! I don’t understand why black people don’t & can’t see that sh*t!(smdh) Thats the exact samething that they told Dr. Marin Luther King in Birmingham AL. They told him & said “Your God is not our God!” But we don’t listen. Just keep marching & protesting while they keep killing us. Y’all see…smdh

Out raged.
The problem I have with the entire thing is, albeit, race plays a major role in this. But the victim’s family seems unphased and unconcerned that they possibly rallied for a man who MIGHT NOT have killed their family member, to be put to death? How can one knowingly know that someone may be innocent and you’re rallying him to be killed? That’s what bothers me the most. And to know the killer may still be out there. I don’t get this justice system! It’s suppose to be "guilty/not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt…" There was obviously alot of doubt regarding this case. I pray for the Davis family and I pray for that McPhail family. This system just seem hellbent on killing that man…regardless! THAT’S the sad part!!!!
I hate what has happened I am discusted. I find peace in knowing Troy Davis did not die in vain, God will use this for good. I dont care what COLOR your skin is, what GOD you say you worshi[p. This was Gods Decision, their is a purpose for his death and I think its bigger than you and me. By them evil people doing what they just did, the death penalty may be abolished.
RIP TROY DAVIS… MAY GOD BLESS HIS FAMILY WITH EXTREME COMFORT DURING THIS TIME OF MOURNING.
rest peacefully troy..we believe you…(tears)
Casey Anthony is sitting somewhere,in a glamorous setting, thanking G-d & jury she is not black.
Will this finally make us rise up and fight for our rights…sadly no, why…

datz ashame while casey anthony iz sumwhere havin a blast smdh!!!!!!!
Here in Texas, ironically, a white supremacist-Lawrence Russell Brewer-was executed for the 1998 dragging death of James Byrd Jr in Jasper TX. I can’t lie, I smiled a little bit. To murder someone is horrific but to tie a man to your truck and drag him to death, that’s just staright evil. You know he went to hell in gasoline drawers.
Oops…I forgot to write that he was executed the same day as Troy Davis.

I HATE THAT HE DIED BUT I BET YOUNG PEOPLE ESP STILL WON’T GET THE BIGGER MESSAGE FROM HIS DEATH AKA TO WATCH THE COMPANY YOU KEEP, WHO U HANG WITH !!! B/C AS HE WAS GOING TO HIS DEATH HE TOLD THE COP’S FAMILY THAT HE DIDN’T DIRECTLY KILL HIM, HE DIDN’T PULL THE TRIGGER WHICH MEANS SOMEONE HE KNOWS OR WAS WITH DID BUT LOOK AT WHO PAID THE ULTIMATE PRICE FOR IT—-HIM NOT HIS FRIENDS. THEY ARE ALL YO FRIENDS, YO BOY WHEN U HAVE $$$$ OR DOING DIRT BUT LET SOME SH*T POP OFF AND ITS EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF. AND I BET WHOMEVER DID PULL THE TRIGGER IS JUST HAPPY IT WASN’T THEM BEING PUT TO DEATH AND NOT REMORSEFUL A BIT. SMH!!!!………JENNY JONES!!!
Good point jenny jones.
One question though. Why didn’t Troy just name all of the men he was with that night and tell the cops who he thinks killed that officer? True, when it comes to getting sentenced to prison, every man for himself. I, however, would not go to prison on a murder charge for none of my friends when I didn’t do the crime. NONE of them! Family maybe but some ole fair weather friends? NEVER!
I am sad for Troy and his family but it is true, you are the company you keep. I hope other young black men (and women) see this story and decide to do better in their lives and stay as far from trouble as possible. If you see a fight going down and its not your parent, sibling or child involved, then stay out of it and let the cops do what they are paid to do. Don’t risk your life for some "homie" nor a "stranger".
