New Edition rocked the stage of the 2011 Essence Music Festival and surprisingly ALL 6 members showed up and showed out!
Ricky Bell, Ronnie Devoe, Johnny Gill, Ralph Tresvant, Michael Bivens and Bobby Brown all hit the stage with a rousing performance.
“We knew we had to bring the “A” game and there was no room for anything but an “A”…” ~ Johnny Gill
Starting their set with Can You Stand the Rain, the group surprised the crowd when Bobby Brown hit the stage.
Johnny Gill eventually exited stage left, and Bobby led the group to an old school rendition of “Jealous Girl”…

After their performance, the group discussed what it was like to all be onstage together. Bobby even shared how difficult it was to re-learn all those all dance moves.

New Edition is one R&B group that will forever be timeless. Can you think of any other acts that have maintained the same amount of longevity and interest?

Bobby look old as hell. He looks like a grandpa. A drunk grandpa. Will Johnny ever come out the closet? Its 2011. Its time.

i loooooooooooooooooooooooooooove NEW EDITIONNNNN!!
NE is my generations temptations!
Hmmmm…gotta go old skool here…..Temptations…Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes……Anyone would like to add to this?
ATLien thanks for the video. It brought back so many fond memories. I am the biggest New Edition fan…I’m still in love with Ralph. They always put on a fantastic show, haven’t lost a beat. NE 4 LIFE baby!!!!
I’m especially glad to see my man Bobby Brown with the fellas doin his thang. Does anyone know if the group is coming to Atlanta? It would definately be a treat!
I love New Edition. They all look goood! So proud to see them together.
No offense but who wants to see grown men in their 40s dancing/singing on stage? Tour?! NE days are done as well as many others. SMDH
Thanks for the coverage but wanted to clarify two points. Ralph’s last name is Tresvant. They actually started the performance with "If It Isn’t Love," I believe. As far as the question posed about who wants to see men in their 40s? Well, anyone who recognizes talent and true showmanship. Those men have always given 100% which is more than I can say for some of today’s acts who sing through autotunes and such. Anyway, NE got down and I look forward to seeing the show again in Atl.
Well said Terri!! New Edition is extremely talented and can put current groups to shame so I’m not sure what battergrl has been smoking but she should let the pipe go. LOL! They did start with If it isn’t love. Everyone has been talking about how they were the best act of all 3 nights. That was major! I look forward to seeing them in the future. I hope they come and close out Essence next year!
