The city of Atlanta is reeling after a bizarre accident that took two vibrant young lives.
LaShawna Threatt, 30, an aspiring model, plunged to her death early Saturday morning and her close friend Ciara Williams, 25, clings to life in intensive care after a freak accident over the Memorial Day weekend.
The bizarre accident occurred during the early morning hours of Saturday (May 28), as both Threatt and Williams fell through a 10th floor window at the W Hotel in midtown Atlanta.
Witnesses at the swanky hotel told officers that Threatt and Williams crashed through the window at around 3:15 a.m.
Reportedly the two were “play fighting” and pressed up against a window, the glass suddenly gave way and the window broke as friends at the gathering watched in horror.
LaShawna Threatt & Ciarra Williams
LaShawna was celebrating her 30th birthday with friends at the swanky hotel when the bizarre incident occurred.
The women fell at least 5 floors where they hit another structure, an area that had a slanted sunroof. Threatt was killed on that initial impact.
Williams rolled off the ledge and fell the remaining 20 feet unto the patio, and amazingly survived the fall. She is currently at Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
Many questions arose as to how the girls could have possible broken through what should have been a double-pane hotel glass window.
A friend of both girls, Passionate Chonvill spoke about the incident:
LaShawna is a mess, a silly goofball. She likes to playfight and tickle you. They had just gotten in the hotel and were having a good time.
My friends who were there, said it was so random. They literally just fell out the window. They are two small girls and I am trying to figure out how the hell, two small girls could break a window like that.
Atlanta Police Lt. Paul Guerrucci confirmed there was no foul play:
It appears that there was no malicious act, no foul play, they were just wrestling with each other, they hit the window, the window broke, and they fell out.
Threatt, who has appeared in photo shoots with Bobby V., leaves behind a 15 year old daughter.
Williams, who is originally from Kentucky, remains in critical condition but a family member has said she is doing doing “better than anticipated” and was aware of relatives. Family members remain puzzled about what led to the fall.
The W Hotel has since replaced the windows and hotel management released the following statement:
Our thoughts and prayers are with the woman who was injured and the family and friends of the woman who died in the fall.
There is a police investigation underway and all information must come from the authorities.

Sad sad news…. May God be with both families.
Sad
This is horrible!!! My prayers go out to both families.
so tragic…my condolences to her family. RIP LaShawna
A life gone too soon…the W has.some explaining to do but the real focus needs to be the friends who witnessed the accident. I don’t believe play fighting could send two girls through a window. RIP LaShawna
I don’t believe the W threw them out of the window. Though a very tragic accident, “friends” who witnessed the accident need to come forward and tell the truth asap!! NO blame should be put on the hotel.
@SISI THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE
My thoughts and condolences are with the family. However, the hotel glass there is too thick, something had to give way. I don’t think there was foul play but something just doesn’t sit well with this picture.
this sounds like somethin out a action movie, doesnt seem tru. its realli sad tho. rip lashawna, such a beautiful girl. gob bless her family n daughter.
Two grown ass women "play fighting" and the just up and fall through a window? How hard do you have to be "play fighting" in order to break a window and fall to your death? This is crazy.
So sad and terrible, especially for LaShawna’s daughter, but something is awry.
I’m just going to say it….SOMEBODY PUSHED THEM or they were fighting for real and it went to far. At the most, the window should have cracked not shattered and gave way.
Sue that hotel and lock up whoever was involved in the fight.
me and my church would like @ set up fund
Yeah when i saw the news about it and the guy who was with them was describing what he saw …it just didn’t sound truthful and I was watching his body language which is even more telling sometimes than people words… I don’t understand what they were still doing up there at almost 4am in the morning anyway…. I feel this was a senseless death and everybody on here saying its so sad, and they are beautiful ladies and all of that is fine and dandy but I wonder would people be saying these nice things if we find out the two chicks were doing something bad and were high and were fighting over some bull…. it definitely is a senseless situation but there is no way we are hearing the real story.. you don’t play fight and fall out a damn window 10 ft up and for the window to only break in the center means that there was some kind of pressure only in that area of the window…. truth will come out though… I say that should have been home anyway at that time of night and you got kids

I met a family member of this tragic death and I need to say high drunk out late it doesn’t matter they are grown women and they didnt ask for the w to have windows that could break on a tenth floor. No one would say this if two young children were playing in the afternoon up there. I am truly heart broken and I wish the family peace one day!
RIP LaShawna Threatt. I pray Ms. Williams will have a speedy recovery.
God, please comfort LaShawna’s family and friends.
