Celebrity Chef Paula Deen is at risk of losing her well built reputation for being a true southern belle after it became known that she frequently used (or ‘uses’, depending on who you ask) the n-word.
News of Deen’s sticky situation quickly traveled, sparking a popular social media trending topic that pushed the envelope on racial jokes.
In the deposition that contained her admission of the use of the ‘N’ word, Paula said, “We have all told off-colored jokes … Most jokes are about Jewish people, rednecks, black folks.”
A statement issued via her company, explained:
“[Paula] was born 60 years ago when America’s South had schools that were segregated, different bathrooms, different restaurants and Americans rode in different parts of the bus. This is not today.”
Up until this point there’s been no apology but Paula had been expected to do so during a scheduled appearance on The Today Show this morning (she was a no-show). Now Deen has posted a short apology on YouTube and appeals to the masses to forgive her for her mistake.
