Keri Hilson & Jill Scott joined the cast and crew of Lifetime’s Steel Magnolia’s for a special screening of the film last Wednesday (October 3, 2012).

The movie, which features an all Black version of the cast, premiered on the network last night (October 8, 2012) to historic numbers.

According to Rodney Ho of the AJC, the remake of the classic film accumulated over 6.5 million viewers, making it the third most popular original telecast in the network?s history.

Overall 25-54 numbers were the best for Lifetime in 17 years since ?Almost Golden: The Jessica Savitch Story.?

Its female 25-54 numbers were the highest in Lifetime?s history in the film category and a basic cable best at least since 2004, according to Nielsen Research.

Steel Magnolia’s was directed by local playwright and producer Kenny Leon and and stars Queen Latifah, Phylicia Rashad and Alfre Woodard. It was shot in Atlanta earlier this year, and features several local actors in smaller roles.
