Meet 37-year-old Gregory J. Oras. Oras went drinking one night and thought that it would be a bright idea to call 911 for a favor. Authorities say the Florida man, called police dispatchers claiming that he had been beaten and shot at was hoping the tall tale would score him a free ride to a bar. That obviously didin’t happen…According to the arrest report,? Oras called 911 at least three times prior to his arrest early Tuesday morning, telling dispatchers he had a broken nose and bleeding ears. In one call he also claimed that people were shooting at him.
Authorities say Oras was actually looking for a ride to get his ‘drink on’ at another bar. Officials arriving on the scene refused to give the man a ride and a disgruntled Oras kicked a Pinellas County sheriff’s deputy in the knees. A taser was eventually used to subdue him.
Oras was subsequently arrested and charged with misusing the emergency call system and battery of a law enforcement officer.
There’s a moral of this story if you look deep enough. I see this one: “Save some cash for cab fare or find a designated driver.” So while you’re out there partying the night away bringing in the New Year, please don’t follow Oras footsteps.
Be smarter…take Marta. 😆
Happy New Year!
