I’m still bumping Backbone’s 5 Deuce 4 Tre on the A-Pod but the Dungeon Family member has released a new song that’s hit the clubs around town. You may or may not have heard it yet but it’s creating quite a buzz.
Take a listen to Backbone’s “That Loud” ft. Wayniac:
My boo Backbone of the Dungeon Family hit the charts in 2001 with “5 Deuce- 4 Tre” and all you true ATLiens will feel me when I tell you that when this song randomly played in my car the other day, I immediately felt the need to drive slow through 5 pernts. *sigh* memories!
Needless to say…there were a whole lotta Grady Babies makin cameos on Peachtree Street when this video was filmed.
I swear I could post flashbacks all day everyday! Check out the video below: Continue Reading…
Two of my favorite people, Antwan “Big Boi” Patton and Cory “Black Owned C-Bone” Andrews hit up Atlanta’s club Utopia last weekend dressed like they were in the frozen tundra. Mario may have jumped on the PETA bandwagon with his “Ink not Mink” campaign but apparently, Big Boi, C-Bone and dem believe in “Ink PLUS Mink”. 😆
Big Boi’s “Shine Blocka’s” video also premiered via StraightFromTheA.com at midnight 2010. Click Here if you missed it.
The historic Clermont Hotel is shutting it’s doors amidst reports of several health code violations. According to the AJC, Fulton County’s Department of Health and Wellness has ordered the hotel to shut down by December 31st after finding a slew of dirty linen, old bedding and bed bug stains.
Inspectors also found mold growing on the walls, black water spilling from faucets and broken toilet fixtures. A sign on the door notes that the hotel closed on Dec. 12th, but residents have until Dec. 31st to find new lodging.
Some of you reading this may not know a thing about the Clermont, but that’s OK. The hotel was built in 1924 as an apartment building but was converted to a hotel in 1940. The photo above may seem familiar if you’ve ever visited Dugan’s or drove down Ponce. The lounge *cough* was a spot that earned its reputation as a after hours joint where shady ATLiens went to watch over the hill strippers.
Bubba Sparxx, Killer Mike & Cool Breeze rapped and ode to the “Clermont Lounge” a few years ago and I still bump it on my “A” Pod. Take a walk down memory lane below: (Strong Language): Continue Reading…
Check out this previously unreleased shot from last summer’s Dungeon Family Reunion at Piedmont Park. Everyone was present and accounted for and an article ran in Vibe’s final issue called “Am I My Brother’s Keeper” (Part 1).
For those of you who are interested in reading Part II, Vibe’s recently been resurrected and you can find it tucked away in the new issue which features Drake on the cover. It’s only about 2 or 3 paragraphs but at least they got it out.
The Goodie Mob is holding a reunion show September 19th at the Masquerade. I posted the first of 4 TV spots announcing the show last week which featured Big Gipp. Now the 2nd drop has been released which features Khujo discussing what the reunion means to him. Stay tuned for the remaining two spots featuring T-Mo and Cee-lo.
