According to Cobb police, Davis was driving a blue Mercedes when she was pulled over by an officer for an expired tag. The officer later discovered her licence was suspended and she was taken to Cobb County Jail.
Davis retired after a series of run ins with the law stemming from DUI charges (click HERE if you missed that). but now it seems, the anchor’s recent arrest was all due to a clerical error.
Details below…
According to Cobb County jail records, Davis spent Tuesday evening in jail on a $1,320 bond after being arrested about 3 p.m. near Cumberland Mall for an expired tag and driving on a suspended license.
Davis? license suspension reportedly stemmed from her previous DUI arrests, but according to Rodney Ho of the AJC, it was discovered later that her license had been reinstated.
She did have an expired tag, but her license was fine. It had been reinstated after a suspension last year, but her license status on the computer had not been updated.
Davis is slated to begin anchoring mornings on CBS46 in January, but the arrest almost threatened her new job.
The new developments certainly work in her favor and her new boss, Mark Pimental, the CBS46 general manager, confirmed to the AJC that Davis is in the clear:
?I saw a valid license today,? Pimental texted me tonight, ?so yes, it appears as if Cobb?s data was incorrect. Amanda starts rehearsals tomorrow as scheduled.?
An expired tag alone would have only resulted in a citation, not an arrest, but Davis’ reinstated license apparently had not been updated in the system.
Unfortunately news of Davis’ arrest will most likely spread farther than the reported outcome but it’s good news that she gets to keep her new gig.
At least she was sober this time.
