A handful of Chipotle customers are reportedly suing the popular restaurant for making them fat!
Several customers claim the popular fast food eatery misled people into thinking its ‘chorizo burrito’ contained way fewer calories than it actually does.
The lawsuit focuses on menu boards at three Chipotle restaurants in California that have the ‘chorizo burrito’ listed at 300 calories when in reality, they contain 700 calories or more.

USAToday reports that a class-action complaint has been filed against the popular chain over their deceptive advertising.
One of the men behind the proposed lawsuit ordered the menu item on Nov. 3 thinking it was a 300-calorie dish. David Desmond claims he “felt excessively full and realized that the burrito couldn?t have been just 300 calories” after eating it, per the complaint.
At least three customers have filed suit against Chipotle in California last week, alleging that the chain broke the law by inaccurately representing the healthiness of its food.
“[B]y providing false nutritional information for their menu items, consumers are lulled into a false belief that the items they are eating are healthier than they really are,” the suit reads.
For the record, the amount of calories in the chorizo burrito varies based on chosen toppings, but it typically contains over 700 calories. The tortilla alone is 300 calories.
Chipotle also clarified on Twitter that the chorizo, which is seasoned meat containing ground chicken and pork, contains about 300 calories on its own, which makes the correct calorie count around 1000+.
[Sidebar: I guess it’s Chipotle’s fault they ate that big zzz burrito in the first place…?]
If approved, the suit would cover “all people who bought food at Chipotle for four years leading up to the filing of the complaint,” even though the chorizo filling is a new menu offering. That’s because the plaintiffs are alleging the signage is part of a pattern by the chain of presenting misleading nutritional information.
Dayum… Chipotle just barely got over that ecoli catastrophe and now this? *sigh*
