Details below…
Lomax met the 13 year old boy on the dating app, Grindr, which is restricted to adult use only. ?But that didn’t stop him from meeting and allegedly?performing a sexual act on the teen victim.
For the record, Grindr is a social media dating app for Gay men. ?Similar to Tinder, people connect to others within a certain radius of their location.
The victim?s mother reported the incident to Lilburn police, who turned the case over to Gwinnett police.
Lomax was arrested in Stone Mountain around 2 p.m.
According to the Gwinnett sheriff?s office, Lomax was employed as a jailer for 2 years, but he resigned after his arrest.
Gwinnett Sheriff Butch Conway issued the following statement regarding the bizarre incident, stating:
While I am extremely disappointed in the actions of Michael Lomax and glad to see him behind bars, I am also alarmed that minors can access social media apps of this nature and utilize them to meet stranger.
According to its website, Grindr is designed to allow users to ?chat, share photos and meet up with guys near you.?
There’s no word yet on how the 13 year old gained access to the site, but clearly?it’s not impossible.
