Who’s the Boss?
Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) is still sitting atop the throne as evident by the ‘new’ Empire logo which bears his profile, but it?s becoming clear that he?s merely a puppet rather than an actual CEO.
Now that Camilla (Naomi Campbell) has kicked the bucket, Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday) has taken over her spot and is now the new ‘Creative Director’ of Empire fashion.
[Sidebar: ?Camilla got a funeral, but Mimi didn’t… interesting! But I digress.]
Baby let’s get married…
Hakeem is managing Tiana (Serayah McNeill), but he’s playing favorites with his new boo or shall I say ‘future wife’ since he’s asked for Laura’s hand in marriage.
Tiana sees through his plot though so we can probably expect some game playing when it comes to this trio pretty soon.
Cookie celebrated her first birthday outside of prison in 17 years and the family all got together to surprise her with Jamal singing Stevie Wonder’s rendition of The Birthday song.
What should have been a fun family gathering turns sour when Lucious and Andr? battle over issues that have been brewing for some time now.
Andr? has finally figured out that their family has a history of mental illness and no one bothered to tell him. ?He also realizes that his dad resents him for the illness, as if it’s his fault.
The blow up doesn’t end well and Andre storms off while Rhonda is apparently forced to hitch a ride.
Uber Everywhere…
Enter Anika (Grace Gealey) to ‘save the day’!
While she only appears in one scene this week, Anika convinces Rhonda to move in with her. While viewers are aware that Anika is the person who pushed Rhonda down those stairs, she’s clearly still in the dark as she states, ?It?ll be nice to be around someone sane for a change.?
