Jamie Foxx hit the stage May 2,2015 to open the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight with the National Anthem but his version seemed a bit over the top.
Foxx recently spoke about his epic anthem fail and explains how, after hearing internet reports “clowning” his singing, he watched a video of the broadcast and admits it was “off.”
“In the stadium, you would have thought I was getting a standing ovation but the telecast it was different, it was so off.”
Most of the criticism targeted the “Ray” star’s choice to play with the song’s arrangement as well as his failure to keep up with the organ.
Still, the 47-year-old star said, “I didn’t think I committed a sin against America.”
“We’ll get another crack at it,? he told ET.

Jamie also hit up Ellen Degeneres and offered her the following explaining about his performance:
…my ears came out. My inner ears. My inner ears came out, and I?m singing with an organ so I can?t hear what the organ is doing with the big crowd.
So some of it was a little off, but I think in the arena, it killed. The telecast was a little off. But ya know, we still love America.
I agree with Jamie… everything about that performance was ‘a little off’… 😯
