R&B crooner Ne-Yo?(above with daughter Madeline) joined Olympic track & field legends Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Gail Devers in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park for National Day for Kids?last Saturday (September 7, 2013).
Atlanta was host to the national kick-off event, which?was held to raise money and awareness for The Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA).
National Day for Kids is a day dedicated to having fun with a child in your life and to bring a national spotlight to BGCA. ?Additional events will be held in Los Angeles, New York City and Dallas throughout the month.
“Research shows that when adults spend meaningful time with children it helps them develop a positive self-image, sense of belonging and purpose,” said a statement from Boys & Girls Club of America.
The ‘Day for Kids’ was the kickoff of the BGCA’s efforts to celebrate and honor children throughout the entire month of September through the gift of meaningful time.

Lunchables partnered with BGCA for the event and pledged a donation of $200,000 per year over the next five years, up to $1 million, to support the organization.
In addition to the chance to meet Ne-Yo, Joyner-Kersee and Devers, attendees got to sample Lunchables and Oscar Mayer fare and enjoy games and activities. Kids also had access the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.
