Rapper Fat Joe shed over 100 pounds and says he chose a healthier lifestyle after losing half a dozen friends to heart attacks.

Joe revealed his new figure earlier this year, when he was spotted out and about in Miami.

I think I weighed about 450 or 460 at my heaviest. I

always took pride in being fat, that’s why my name was Fat Joe. I always represented the big people, but I realized at a certain point… all my big people were dying!

The formerly rotund rapper sat down recently with CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta to discuss how he “dropped a body” after shedding over 100 lbs.

Personally, I love big men and I’ve always thought Fat Joe was sexy (and? what?) but when your weight gets to the point it’s affecting your health and problems like diabetes pop up… it’s time to make a move.

I commend Fat Joe on taking charge of his weight!
