Jennifer Hudson honored the memory of her slain nephew during the 1st annual Julian D. King Gift Foundation Hatch Day celebration at De La Salle Institute in Chicago, Illinois yesterday (August 14, 2011).
With her sister Julia by her side, Jennifer distributed school supplies to students. Hudson said she felt a school supply giveaway was the perfect way to honor her nephew?s memory, because he was really enthusiastic about learning.
?Because of his size, people always said Julian was going to be a football player,? said Julia.? But Julia said her son wanted to be a doctor and used to insist that people call him ?Dr. King?
Yesterday would have been Julian’s 10th birthday.
Jennifer also took a moment to address her recent twitter battle, where she was involved in a heated exchange with a fan who inquired if she’d had weight loss surgery.
J-Hud was less than apologetic and felt her actions were necessary.

Hudson admits she is definitely not sorry for addressing that Twitter user.
The former American Idol says the messages about her weight loss and her fiance’s sexual orientation, were disrespectful and she’s NOT gonna take it anymore!
(Start at the 2:45 mark)
?Somewhere along the way people forgot that I am from Chicago but it?s not even that. To me, when you know it?s me on there, because I sit and I talk to my fans all the time, so you know you talking to me and I feel as though don?t say nothing to me on Twitter that you not gonna say in my face in person,? Hudson told Chicago?s Morning Riot radio show.
?That’s not right. Somewhere along the lines people think they can just talk to celebrities any kind of way. We’re people too and just the same way you want your respect, we want ours.
It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it. Excuse me guys I lost my celebrity religion for a second.
Jennifer also addressed those pesky rumors about her having weight loss surgery (specifically liposuction), and says she can?t understand why people are still “hating on her skinny”! (my words not hers)
That?s another reason why I got frustrated. Because I?m out here trying to put out a positive message.
I know I?ve done this naturally and I do NOT appreciate you undoing what I?ve done and trying to make it negative. Don’t be mad at me anyone can do it. It can be achieved.
I guess that’s somewhat of a denial.
