It was just a few days ago that I revealed in a ‘not so blind’ item that Oprah Winfrey‘s OWN newtork would be pulling the plug on their ‘baby daddy’ themed show (click HERE if you missed that).

The show was to be focused around Jay Williams, the Atlanta resident with 34 kids and 17 baby mamas that bared his baby mama drama on several episodes of Iyanla: Fix My Life.
The goal of the ‘Untitled Jay Williams Project’ was to follow Williams as he worked to put his life and relationships in order with the help of spiritual life coach Iyanla Vanzant holding him accountable every step of the way…. but things didn’t turn out as planned.

Atlanta-based rapper Shawty Lo is in the news this week after several sites have drawn comparisons between his ‘All My Baby Mamas’ reality show and OWN-TV’s recent announcement about another Atlanta man with similar issues getting a green light for his show.

I thought it would be interesting to speak one on one with Lo about the comparisons, especially in light of all of the protests and petitions HIS show received when it was picked up (and dropped) by Oxygen last year.

On his show being stereotypical and/or ‘glorifying’ baby mama…
Basically, I can get what they mean by ‘glorifying’ because the name of my show was ‘All My Baby Mamas’… I had nothing to do with that. Period. That was something the network came up with and I was telling them, I didn’t like that name.
I have 11 kids and 10 baby mamas. 11+10 is 21 and I wanted by show to be called, ‘Shawty Lo: Being 21.’
But they did what they wanted to do and I think that’s one reason we got backlash…

NEWSFLASH! Nene Leakes of The Real Housewives of Atlanta and her former BFF Kim Zolciak-Biermann are finally reuniting on the small screen.
The ladies each gained their own unique following during their antics on the first few seasons of RHOA, but somewhere down the line, their friendship crumbled and failed.

After making amends during the RHOA reunion show, the pair have been cordial but who knew they were orchestrating their own road-trip themed spin-off show?!?
Welp… the cat’s finally outta the bag. Nene and Kim are next up on the reality show spin-off bus and they will once again join forces together onscreen. This time, the pair will embark on an epic ‘reality’ show field trip on Bravo.

Having multiple baby mamas seems to be the norm nowadays and drama that comes along with all those mixed relationships would make for perfect ‘real life’ reality television.
Rapper Shawty Lo tried to bring his situation to mainstream a few years ago with ‘All My Baby Mamas’ (click HERE to watch) but his story was banned from tv after thousands signed a petition stating it was too stereotypical.

That being said, a rapper with several baby mamas is an issue but apparently a well spoken father of 34 isn’t. (insert side-eye!)
Jay Williams from Iyanla: Fix My Life, the guy who had fathered 34 children from 17 different woman is now getting a shot at bringing his real life problems to the small screen.
Williams story (which you can watch in it’s entirety HERE) sparked several ‘Fix My Life’ follow ups and many suggested that it was his intent all along to secure his own show.
Well… his plan worked. Details + press release below… Continue Reading…
