A group of music industry Presidents and CEO’s convened on Hotel Palomar in midtown Atlanta last weekend to celebrate a reunion of sorts. L.A. Reid, Steve Bartels, Bu Thiam, Devyne Stephens, Young Jeezy, Usher Raymond, Dallas Austin and more music industry decision makers all joined each other for an evening of fine dining at the hotel’s Pacci Ristorante for the annual “Dinner With The President”.
Take a moment to take in all the movers and shakers in the room…

Wow! Looky who Dallas Austin brought out…
It’s Lee “Big Poppa” Najjar (Kim Zolciak’s on again off again married boyfriend). I guess he’s about to be more on the scene since Kim has a hit record…
Super entertainment attorney and my personal hero Phaedra Parks got married last weekend in a private ceremony in Buckhead. Pictured above from right to left is Dwight Eubanks from The Real Housewives of Atlanta who served as Wedding planner/Director, the beautiful bride Phaedra Parks, Me (ATLien of StraightFromTheA.com), Tracey Baker-Simmon (TV producer-Welcome to Dreamland, Being Bobby Brown), and Ted Lucas (music mogul CEO and founder of Slip N’ Slide Records-Plies, Rick Ross, Trina & Trick Daddy).
Phaedra is very established and well-known in the industry and you may also recognize her from her many appearances on BET’s Tiny & Toya show, where she is executive producer. (more…)
Antwan “Big Boi” Patton held his annual Halloween party at Stankonia Studios last weekend with an open bar and plenty of soul food for the crew. Proceeds from the event went to benefit the Big Kidz Foundation, which is Twan’s non-profit organization established to nurture the intellect of youth by providing them with culturally diverse experiences. Talk about partying with a purpose! This shindig went on til the wee hours of the morning in the Courvoisier Lounge and spread throughout the entire studio.

Can you guess who this is? I’ll tell you below…
You may also recognize Big Boi’s “costume.” He states that he was “Dick Fury” (a spin off of DF/Dungeon Family) but my first impression was George Jefferson. He explains the inspriation behind his plaid suit and huge fro and you may (or may not) be surprised to hear the explanation. Video plus more party pics below: (more…)
I honestly was a bit pissed off when I saw someone had ganked my video from my Frankie Gives Relationship Advice + Her Emotional Red Carpet Exit post, but once I watched it, I could NOT stop laughing. Itzrag, the dude who “remixed” the vid is a dayum nutcase but he killed me and gave me life again with his rendition of Frankie’s “crackish” interview.
Diamond (formerly of Crime Mob) shot the video yesterday for her hot new single “Superbad” featuring Cee-Lo Green. The shoot was held at Opera and Diamond was joined by Rasheeda, Tiny, Toya and more.
Diamond (far right) with the crew on the set of her new video…
Tiny, Rasheeda & Toya. Tiny is rockin that dayum red hair!
You may have already heard the song over the Atlanta airwaves but just in case you’ve missed it:
“Superbad” ~ Diamond (of Crime Mob) ft. Cee-Lo Green
I’m feelin kinda bad that I couldn’t make it out there yesterday but there’s only one of me right now, and it’s hard to be everywhere. But judging from the pics and this clip I found, looks like it’s gonna be a hot video. Peep Diamond dropin a few dance moves plus grab the download link below: (more…)
Monica (above with her boo Rocko) celebrated her 29th birthday last weekend with a series of events. She started off with a big bash at Luckie Food Lounge and rounded it off with a Red Carpet Preview of her new BET reality series and celebration of her Uptown Magazine Cover. Mo was surrounded by friends, family and fans all weekend long before departing to New York to hit up the Thurgood Marshall Anniversary Dinner and 106 & Park:
The premiere episode of Monica’s BET reality show, “Still Standing” broke records during it’s airing Tuesday night. The show is said to have brought in 3.2 million viewers and is BET’s #2 debut of all time, behind “The Tiny & Toya Show.” I’m so proud of Monica for bringing some positivity to the network!
In case you missed it, you can check out the full first episode of Monica’s “Still Standing” plus more photos from her birthday celebration below: (more…)
During the 2009 BET Hip Hop Awards, Gucci Mane performed onstage at least 4 times with different artists but it was his performance of “Wasted” that warranted a public service announcement. BET, in an effort to discourage youths from celebrating in being drunk and wasted, ran the brief PSA from Gucci Mane himself advising all watching that he’s serious about his sobriety:
Yeah it’s ya boy Gucci. I want y’all to know that I do make party records and it’s all fun. But on a serious note, I’m taking my own sobriety very seriously. And this is for real. It’s coming from ya boy Gucci. Be safe.
I wonder who’s taking the credit for this PSA. Gucci’s probation officer or BET? Performance video below: (more…)
