Atlanta’s own Fonzworth Bentley (aka Derrick Watkins), his wife Faune Chambers and their then 5 week old daughter Zoie made a special appearance on Preachers of LA this week.
It’s the 4th episode of season 1 and Bentley shows up at Bishop Clarence McClendon’s home?seeking guidance about balancing work life and home life now that he’s a new dad.
[Sidebar: Congratulations to the happy couple! Their new arrival was born July 30th in L.A.]
Bishop Ron Gibson and his wife plan an intervention for his drug addicted sister.? Gibson feels that if he removes her from her current surroundings, she may have a chance of getting and staying clean.
Deitrick Haddon surprises his fiance/baby mama Dominque with a new home, and while their wedding is still a month away, he wants her to move in.? But instead of ‘shacking up’ and being condemned by the ever watchful eyes of the church, Haddon has a plan.
Recap + watch the full episode under the cut…
Bishop McClendon confides in Fonzworth Bentley that he has a stalker.
While that could explain why both he and Fonzworth are rocking a similar outfit, I’m going to assume that it’s not Bentley who McClendon claims has been sending death threats.
Concidentally, death threat story pretty much explains the bodyguards McClendon caught flack for during the first episode.

McClendon explains to his staff during a briefing that he has a mission and wants to stay alive to carry it out.
When you’re in the public eye, people have a lot of opinions about what they think you should do. But one of my number one responsibilities is the well being, the protection… of my family and my house.
I’ve got to do what I have to do.
Moving on…
Deitrick Haddon surprises his future wife Dominque with a new house and pushes her to get married sooner than their wedding ceremony?so that they can reside in their new home without ‘shacking’.
Dominique agrees that they can go ahead and get married now (privately) but their wedding ceremony must still go on next month.
Deitrick and Dominique plan two weddings, one for just them and the 2nd one for the world.? It’s their choice to be together NOW even though the formal ceremony is only a month away.
Dominque’s mother prepares her backyard for the ceremony and the couple enlists a minister friend to carry it out.
Instead of rings, they use string to symbolize their union (that can’t be a good sign) and even the minister seems baffled as he states,? “what you’re saying by tying this yarn around her finger is that you two will be bound together…”
[SIDEBAR: Correct me if I’m wrong… but the yarn could be untied (or cut) right? Chile… I guess.]
The ceremony was cute though…
Bishop Ron Gibson’s storyline this week focused on his drug addicted sister.
Gibson enlists his family members to head to Compton for a personal intervention to grab his sister out of her one bedroom drug den.
During their intervention, Gibson gets his sister to a safe place, which happens to be Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles and she’s on her cell phone the whole way there telling ‘someone’ of her whereabouts.? As they sit at the restaurant offering her options, a man walks in.? It’s her drug dealer. *sigh*
“If I’m sick… he gets my medicine for me” she tells Gibson.? It’s just too much for him to take and he asks the man to leave.
Gibson then offers his sister a safe place in rehab and she takes him up on his offer.
Noticeably absent this episode was Bishop Noel Jones… (I secretly stan for his storyline) 😆
