VIDEO: CNN’s Don Lemon Announces Whitney Houston Death
According to the Associated Press:
Houston, who ruled as pop music’s queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, has died. She was 48.
Houston’s publicist, Kristen Foster, said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unknown.
Houston’s death comes on the heels of her erratic behavior at an LA nightclub just a few days ago.

News of Houston’s death came on the eve of music’s biggest night – the Grammy Awards. It’s a showcase where she once reigned, and her death was sure to case a heavy pall on Sunday’s ceremony. Houston’s longtime mentor Clive Davis was to hold his annual concert and dinner Saturday; it was unclear if it was going to go forward.
Houston leaves behind a daughter, Bobbi Kristina.

Houston was found unresponsive in a suite at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and was pronounced dead around 3:55pm PST. There have been many reports that her longtime friend Ray-J was the person who found her in the suite, however a publicist for Ray-J has denied the claim.
CNN is now reporting that her bodyguard “Ray” found her unresponsive and police say there is “no obvious signs of foul play”

TMZ is reporting the Whitney may have drowned in a bathtub following an overdose of prescription meds.
No illegal drugs have been found in the hotel room where Whitney Houston died — at least not yet — but prescription drugs were present, and it’s possible the singer drowned in the bathtub.
Sources tell us … when EMTs arrived Whitney’s body was already removed from the bathtub so it will take an autopsy to determine if she OD’d, drowned or died from some other cause.
Informed sources tell us … Beverly Hills cops — who were still searching the room at the time this story was posted — found various pill bottles. There was no evidence that Whitney was drinking alcohol in the room.
Whitney’s body was just removed from the room on a gurney. It will go to the morgue for an autopsy to determine cause of death.

Climbed into bed working from almost 10 hr shift and get on facebook to hear the terrible news. I’m very sad today. I’m 35yrs old and I grew up with her old and and new music. Yessss i don’t know her personally but she is still like family. She is an icon and she will be dearly missed. Truely a sad moment.

I was on UberSocial. I saw the first Tweet around 6 or 7 something. I didn’t think nothing of it. I thought it was another Twitter hoax. Then, I got back home and saw it on all the major news stations. Then…I knew it was true so sad. I grew up on Whitney just like I grew up on Michael. I hate it all! I planned on going to sleep early…but I could not take my eyes off of CNN.

I heard the news last night, and I’m still feeling sad about it. She was an amazing woman, with an amazing God given talent who lived an amazing life. She had a strong faith, which helped her through her darkest times. We all have demons, now she’s free of hers. Her music is on the soundtrack of my adolescence, may she rest in peace and may her family grieve with the privacy they deserve.

I just finished worshipping at Crossroads Church in Sharpsburg, GA when my boyfriend called and told me the news. I thought it was a sick rumor, but a woman who worked in the church’s gift shop pulled up cnn.com and there it was in big, bold letters: “Singer Whitney Houston dead at 48.” I literally almost dropped to my knees.

There is so much I can say. We can guess at what we think happened to her. It could have been the effects of drugs… It could have been heartbreak…. It could have been a number of things. One thing is clear to me though, the media did what it has always done to us and is still doing to us. A lot of you guys are so gullible that I canbelieve you over look the odvious. yes she and Michael Jackson both may have been on drugs but the media and our following helped pushed them over the edge.
