Seventeen Magazine named Beyonce 2008 Style Star Of The Year and the star attended the unveiling of Dec08/Jan09 cover. In the issue, she talks about her new double-album, I Am…Sasha Fierce, her marriage to Jay-Z, and explains how SHE is her worst competitor:
On finally settling down with Jay-Z: “I was 18 when we first met, 19 when we first started dating. There was no rush — no one expected me to run off and get married. I really don’t believe that you will love the same thing when you’re 20 as you do at 30. So that was my rule: Before the age of 25, I would never get married. I feel like you have to get to know yourself, know what you want, spend some time by yourself, and be proud of who you are before you can share that with someone else.”
On competion from other artists: “I feel like I’m my competition. I don’t try to compete with other people. I just try to better myself. I go and watch everything that I’ve done. I have my YouTube days, when I watch every performance, and I listen to my music, and I watch my videos to figure out what I need to do, what I need to fix, and how to become a better singer. I dunno Bey…You may need to check a few other YouTube performances before you rule anyone out:
My all-time favorite ATLien, Antwan “Big Boi” Patton made his highly anticipated appearance on primetime television last night. Mr. Patton guest starred on NBC’s “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” and the show aired last night (November 18th). In the episode, entitled “Wildlife,” Big Boi played “Gots Money”, a rapper involved in an exotic animal smuggling ring under investigation by Detective Elliot Stabler (Chris Meloni).
I am NOT a Law and Order fan but y’all know I loves me some Antwan Patton!! Check out a few clips from his appearance: (more…)
Usher performed his “One Night Stand” for ladies only concert in Atlanta last night at the Tabernacle. I dunno what he’s thinking, but it doesn’t look too good…
I gotta head to class, but I’m leaving you guys with some homework for today. Compete this sentence:
Usher wants this female dancer to _______________________ ???
This sh*t has more twists and turns in it than my curly wig! Here’s the story, website owner, Tina Brown, contacted someone she THOUGHT was Jay McCarroll, Project Runway’s first season winner, via email asking him to contribute sketches of a proposed inaugural gown for Michelle Obama. Brown received several sketches, one of which portrayed the first lady in a headscarf and what appeared to be a red, white & blue burlap sac dress. Now…instead of immediately tossing the item as a joke, Brown posts the dress on her site and praised the designer, who happened to be Jay McCarrol <—(with one “l”), a musician whose name is often confused with the Project Runway fashionista. Carrol (with one “l”) said he was just “f*cking around” when he decided to take her up on her offer to design an inaugural gown and enlisted the help of a friend to construct the nonsense pictured below as a joke: (more…)
I love Harpo…I really do. But I’ll SHOOT HIM DEAD before I let him make my wedding party eat at Mickey D’s! I know y’all think I’m playing, but I’m serious as hell right now. Especially since I been planning my wedding for months *in my head*. I guess you can only go up from here…but Dayum, can we at least start off at a spot with a liquor license?
Check out DeadAzzWrong for more of this foolishness…
President-elect Barack Obama and his daughters, Malia and Sasha are such a beautiful representation of Father/Daughter relationships. I ran across several pictures which reflect a loving and dedicated father as well as a great man. These pictures tell a beautiful story:
Beyonce…I mean Sasha Fierce performed “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” to kick off the 2008 World Music Awards in Monte Carlo, Monaco yesterday (November 9). The show was hosted by fellow Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams and actor Jesse Metcalfe. Mrs. Carter was also awarded a WMA for Outstanding Contribution to the Arts. The 2008 WMA will air in the US on December 2nd.
