Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was arrested earlier today at LAX airport after a scuffle with the paparazzi. According to TMZ, Tyson was arrested at LAX and charged with misdemeanor battery after a bloody confrontation with a photographer outside the United terminal. During Mike Tyson’s initial appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show, he expressed a bit of remorse over an incident with fellow fighter Evander Holyfield during their 1997 heavyweight title fight, where Mike bit Evander twice, once in each ear. The incident went down as one of the most talked-about moments in boxing history and the two have never officially discussed what happened. Evander contacted Oprah and asked if the two could reunite face to face on her show. O obliged and brought Mike back within a week of his interview for a historic interview between the two former foes.
Evander is still missing a small part of his ear but says he has moved past his anger:
“It was just shocking. It wasn’t really as bad as they made it out to be. The most important thing is that things happen for a reason, but it’s how you handle it,” he says. “At that moment, I was very angry. But eventually, when it’s all over, you realize that you gain more than you lost. … The most important thing for me was to forgive, and I forgave him and I was ready to move on.”

Boxing rivals Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield (photographed above during the 2009 ESPY Awards) are to scheduled to reunite in an upcoming episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” Harpo Productions announced Wednesday that the two fighters will appear on Friday’s live episode for a historic appearance together. If you recall, Holyfield was forever changed by Tyson after their June 28, 1997 bout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas where Tyson was disqualified after biting off part of Holyfield’s right ear during their WBA heavyweight title fight.
Tyson expressed a bit of remorse about the ear-biting incident during his one on one with Oprah this week, where he admitted that his initial apology to Holyfield was insincere. Oprah will now play referee as she gives Tyson a chance to man-up to his actions in front of her live audience. In the upcoming episode, Harpo Productions says Tyson will also take questions from the audience.
The Tyson/Holyfield episode airs Friday, October 16th. Check local listings for times.

One More Chance? Holyfield Plans to Fight Again

Former heavyweight champion Iron Mike Tyson appeared on The Oprah Winfrey show today and talked about his entire life history. From his 8 month marriage to Robin Givens to his ear-biting episode with fellow fighter Evander Holyfield, Mike let it all out. Discussing his recent documentary, “Tyson”, Oprah seemed to play it safe with the questions but eventually got Mike to shed tears after asking probing question about the accidental death of Mike’s daughter. This was one interview I was waiting for and it didn’t leave me disappointed at all. Mike talked about wildin out with women and drugs and seemed like he’s a sincere…changed family man. But he’s still SCARY nonetheless…

Mike Tyson’s new wife is an Ex-con [Windyista]

I haven’t really paid that much attention to the Mike Tyson marriage thing simply because I thought that he and the mother of his child felt the need to sanctify their relationship…finally….after the horrible tragedy of their daughter Exodus’ death. I just assumed that the two needed each other to lean on and tying the knot so soon after the death was just a symbolic gesture. But I was totally wrong. Exodus was the daughter of Mike’s 2nd wife and not his newest bride, Lakiha Spicer. Not really a big deal but ESPN’s boxing sports writer had quite a bit to say about Mike’s decision:
So let me get this straight: Just two weeks after the horrible accidental death of his 4-year-old daughter, Exodus Tyson, Mike Tyson got married? Tyson got hitched for the third time — to Lakiha Spicer, who is not the mother of the toddler — in Las Vegas last Saturday night. I know people mourn in different ways, but doesn’t the timing strike you as extremely odd? How do you go from the death of a child, the saddest of all days, to marriage, which is supposed to be the happiest of days, in just two weeks?
