It’s no secret that the second season of Empire has been taking a beating in ratings and it seems that Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson knows what’s turning people off.

Power” executive producer jumps at chance to bash the hit Fox series, claiming there’s way too many celeb cameos and ‘extra gay stuff’!

In an Instagram post that has since been deleted, Fiddy shared a screenshot of an IG gossip page that said Fox Network’s popular show’s ratings fell because of too many celebrity cameos and “gay” plots.

“There are 3 million less viewers who tuned into last night’s Empire episode!!!! did you watch it?” the post said. “We could not take the extra gay stuff or celebrity stuff last night!!!!”

Jackson also chimed in with his own commentary by urging Cookie (Taraji P. Henson‘s “Empire” character) to call him for help.

50 Cent reposted a post from theindustryonblast_ to his 6.5 million followers but deleted it after about 10 hours claiming he didn’t fully read the caption. (insert side-eye!)

Jackson’s camp reached out to TMZ with the following explanation:

A rep for 50 tells TMZ the rapper reposted a photo to his Instagram making fun at the show’s decline in ratings … but he missed the part about the drop in ratings being due to the show’s “gay stuff.”

50’s rep says he deleted the post once he saw the homophobic comments attached to it. The rep says the comments were “not a reflection of his views at all.”

50 has been beefing with the show for a while now … mostly because he says it’s inferior to his show “Power.” It doesn’t help that “Empire” singled him out during the season 2 premiere episode.

I heard many people say that the second season of Empire doesn’t quite have the ‘IT’ factor that it had during season one and I have to agree. I can’t quite put my finger on it though… but it just doesn’t move me like it used too. I was looking forward to seeing a few of the celebs… but I think the cameos are getting in the way of a clear storyline.

For example, even Kelly Rowland’s appearance during episode 2 had to be explained to many.

As previously reported, Kelly was chosen to appear on the popular reality show as Lucious Lyon’s mother.

Rowland appeared onscreen for less than a minute during Empire Season 2, episode 2 (click HERE if you missed it) and her appearance confused many fans.

Rowland appeared in a flashback scene as Andre begged his father to tell him why he hates him so much. The answer, it seems, is because Lucious’ mom also struggled with mental illness.

Kelly is scheduled to appear on at least two more episodes, so maybe more will be revealed.

[Sidebar: In my opinion, that wasn’t too clear in the flashback… but apparently that’s what it was supposed to convey. But I digress.]

  I’m as lost in your statement as I am the Rowland cameo. The problem is the story line dropped off. When they left off, the main character was thrown in jail.

  I think the show might be forgetting its huge white demographic. The premiere, with the whole "monkey in a cage" thing, shouting out BlackLivesMatter, etc. may have skewed a little bit too black or, dare I say it, "militant" for white audiences and I can imagine a number of them tuning out.
  
  Not saying they were right or wrong for putting that in but hey, it is what it is, if you want high numbers you gotta cater to all sides. It’s hard to really get a handle on what’s going on with the show until you get your hands on the Nielsens and see which demos, exactly, are walking away from it.

  For once, I actually agree with 50Cent. I’m all for integrating gay culture in the storylines. but it seemed to be the primary focus in the first episode of this season. Boo Boo kitty went from being a debutante last season to a trick for a lesbian executive in the first episode. Too much.

  I like the guest appearances by famous celebrities. Not so interested in the gay scenes. This season they tend to be too long and too prominent. The show is not about gave lifestyles. Hoping they revert back to the Season one format. I understand that Lee Daniels is gay. He may be attempting to make the show appealing to other gay people to show that being gay is okay. Not a problem, but he needs to balance things out to appeal to all so that the ratings remain high.

  Not sure why 50 and maybe the media keep bringing this up. There is no comparison between Empire and Power. Because Power is on cable, the show can be more raw and more gritty. There is only so much that Lee can show on regular tv.
  50 should focus on his own show. Empire is still bringing much higher rating than Power. 16 or 13 million viewers is great. That is beating out Duck Dynasty, Scandal, and some of the other previously top rated shows.
  Agree. I would like to see less of the alternative lifestyle shown. Could less celebrities. Though I’ve read many of them want to be on the show even if it is just one episode. Guess that is why so many of them keep popping up. Maybe it would be better to stick with the celebs who are singers or musicians. Make that the cut off.

  I will state what most people that just walk away from watching Empire with no explanation are feeling. First and foremost, I do not appreciate anyone trying to shove anything down my throat. For example, all of the gay scenes displayed on episode 2 were way over the top. We all know Lee Danielis gay. Not everyone that watches Empire is gay. So he should’ve catered to all of his viewers, and not primarily to his gay viewers. After watching that episode, I felt like I needed to say ten Hail Marys.

Everyone had to see the premiere of Empire season 2 and I am not at all suprised of the rating drop in the second episode. Empire is dope and 50 has no clue. More and more shows are including gay people but that is not a reason to hate on them. People gotta quit being homophobes and enjoy the show for what it is, the best show on air.

  I saw Mo’Nique in New Orleans this summer coming out of an old woman’s home. There was a raven on the stoop just looking out. Mo’Nique was laughing out loud and had what I think was bat blood on her fingers. I said right then Miss Daniels had better watch out. That Sylvester track added nothing but just went too far.   okay so… anyone who has taken a couple of business courses or who may have an MBA understand in business 101 that when a new form of business opens there is a great deal of buzz at some point in the excitement there is usually a spike and then a large decline or dip in the interest of the business and then the business levels out. This is true to any form of business goods or services. I’m sure the execs., knew that there would be a drop in the ratings and they probably expect at some point for things to level out. There are a lot of people with different personalities that like the show.

  I agree that there are a lot of camero appearances, as well as a surge in gay-themed storylines (I loved seeing Lawrence on the show, but didn’t understand why he was there), but it’s excessive and looses the main character’s focus. I am a fan of the show and feel that no show can stay on top forever. It’s bound to loose ratings as time goes on…that’s to be expected. As well, 50 should really take a seat and stop with the comments…there’s room enough for both shows…

  Candy West Howard: Thank You. I said the same thing the first time I viewed "Power", it is like "The Wire"–"Ghost" is "Stringer Bell". I didn’t like "Power" as well once 50 Cent came on as "Kanan". I want the show to stay focused on "Ghost" not "Kanan". I do find it ironic how many of us are agreeing with 50 Cents. Most of these comments though, "blame" gayness being forced down your throat for why you are not as excited about the 2 episodes of Season 2 of Empire that have aired thus far. Many of you have "issues" with seeing Gays on Empire but seem ok with all of the cursing, sex and drug dealing occurring on "Power". And, no one should be letting their children view either "Empire" nor "Power"-neither show is for kids. When we get all up in arms over Gays, we need to stop and remember that it was not that long ago in our history, that there was a faction of white society(and they still exist)who felt the same way many of you say you feel about gays only…that faction of society was talking about us and our Civil Rights.

  I just think the show is boring, I used to watch it last season now I dvr it and don’t even care to watch. The storylines are not believable and way too corny. The gay stuff I can pass on for sure.

  Personally, I think 50 cents harbors the "crab in a bucket" syndrome. If he does not care for the show, (even though it’s obvious that he watches every episode), why not just hush? Two black creators,writers/producers trying to make their way into what once was a closed market for Black creators writers/producers. It seems 50 cents is intimidated by Empire. He is showing his crab in a bucket mentality…as soon as he observes another black person attempting to climb the ladder of success, another crab (50 cents) try’s to pull him/her down. Both shows, Power as well as Empire, has serious flaws, so the best thing to do for both shows is to correct your show’s flaws, and you want have enough time to criticize the other show’s flaws!
