Soon afterwards, Meech himself reached out to clear the air about any rumors regarding T.I. being a snitch….
Last night I got a call last night from Tammy Cowins, Meech’s best friend and CEO of BMF entertainment, who wants to get the word out about a few business matters.
And yes… another letter from Big Meech is involved and he wants to clear up rumors before they even get started.
Clearly there’s been a lot going on over the past few years. With the BMF named being used in today’s songs, there has been a rise in interest about the former drug cartel’s history.
James Dubose of Dubose Entertainment, the man responsible for bringing Keyshia Cole, Monica, Tiny & Toya, Michael Vick and more to reality television, has partnered with Tammy Cowins to create a BMF Movie of epic proportions and there were rumors that Meech wasn’t on board for the project.
Cowins and Meech were signed with Dubose originally and then tried Morgans Creek Film Company. They signed a new agreement with Dubose on 9/3/2013 and despite what you may (or may not) have heard, the project is proceeding and both Cowins and Meech are on board.
Meech wrote a letter to clear up any misconceptions.
What’s “Craccin” AUDIENCEFirst I would like to express my apologies to the public for all these False rumors on who is doing The BMF Movie. I am partly to blame being that I let a film company get in my ear telling me they would do the kind of motion picture that I wanted – and in a 2 year period, which of course did not work out at all like they told me.I have to thank my man “James Dubose” who I consider family cause he warned me about the games people play in the film industry, which now we’re back together as an inseperabe team and we’re going to bring the world a box office smash film.James and I both feel that anything that is truly consider ‘GREAT” is worth the wait, so be patient and be on the lookout for ‘The Real BMF Film
In the meantime, Meech is on a 23 hour lock down in Colorado, and gets 15 min calls out everyday. He’s been keeping in touch with Cowins daily and things are progressing, but as he said in the letter… it will be well worth the wait.
For the record, Cowins also executive produced a documentary about BMF that was released December 2012, entitled BMF: The Rise and Fall of a Hip-Hop Drug Empire, that may quench your thirst for BMF history in the meantime. It’s also available on Netflix.
In 15-years the Black Mafia Family, or BMF as they were called, made close to 700 million dollars trafficking cocaine from Atlanta to Los Angeles. In the Hip-Hop music industry they created a front company called BMF Entertainment, which was a perfect mix of drugs, violence, and street cred that makes their story Hip-Hop’s version of the Godfather.
This film explores the story of the 15-year investigation by the DEA, FBI and an elite drug task force called HIDTA, which resulted in 41 defendants across the country being charged in one of the largest drug conspiracy cases ever.
It’s awesome that Meech always finds the time to clear up all that negative chatter even from a jail cell!
