Davis, an anchor at Atlanta’s WAGA-TV (Fox 5), was reportedly driving northbound in the southbound lane of Piedmont Avenue near 14th Street in Midtown around 12:20 a.m. when she caused a head on collision.
Witnesses at the scene of the accident claim that the 55 year-old Davis was being followed in a separate car by a friend, a young male driver.
After the accident, the gentlemen could be heard telling authorities on the scene that he’d met Davis at a bar earlier and was following her home to make sure she arrived without incident.
Clearly that didn’t work.

According to Atlanta police spokesman Gregory Lyon, when the investigating officer arrived on the scene, he saw a black Toyota Corolla facing southbound driven by David Jarman and a Green Fiat facing northbound driven by Davis.
The wreck scene suggested a head-on collision with Davis’ vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lane of traffic, Lyon said.
The officer said he noticed that Davis smelled of alcohol. When he asked her if she had been drinking, she admitted that she had.
During the course of the investigation, the officer determined he had reasonable cause to believe Davis was driving while impaired. Davis refused to a field sobriety test and state-administered chemical tests, Lyon said.
Davis’ Georgia drivers license was confiscated and sent to the state. She was taken to the Atlanta jail on charges of DUI, failure to maintain lane and reckless driving, according to Lyon.
In a statement, the Fox 5 vice president of news wrote, “We are aware of the situation and we are currently investigating.”
Davis has been with Fox 5 since 1986 and co-anchors the station’s news at 6 p.m and 10 p.m.
The other driver involved in the crash was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital after complaining of injuries.
According to WSB-TV, Davis bonded out of jail on Sunday morning. No word yet on when (or if) the Emmy award winning television anchor will be returning to her job at Fox-5.

This is her 2nd. She DUI’d before her 6 week checkup when she she had the former police chief’s (Eldrin Bell’s) baby! She caused an accident with a tractor trailer then! SMDH!!!!!!!
wow, really? i had no idea she had that kind of drama. i liked watching her on the news lol oh well, thats what she gets for trolling for young dck and driving drunk.
Sad. You’d think she would have more going on than to be hanging out in bars and trying to get young men into her bed. Personally, being that this has happened before, I wouldn’t hire her back. It shows both an overt disrespect for human life, her job, and perception as a role model.
Nonetheless, it is interesting to me how quickly Fox5 sought to repair their reputation via the airing of another "dedicated, determined, dependable" ad that didn’t feature Amanda. That’s actually what initially tipped me off that something must have happened with her.

What does reporting the news have to do with dui? She just doesn’t need a job in transportation. All these celebrities get all types of drug,dui, assault, rape charges and continue on with their career; Why can’t she? It is apparent that she has a problem since this is not the first time.
Reporting the news has nothing at all to do with her DUI charge; however, certain positions…especially job positions carry an amount of weight that speaks to the public opinion. She is labeled for some as a "role model" or a celebrity to others. This is what matters. I wish the "friend" that was behind her would have taken a stronger concern and took her keys or called for a taxi. I hope she gets the help she need for this problem. Substance abuse is a "killer"!
wtf girl….it has everything to do with it. not only what mzJ said but how is she supposed to be looked up to as an authority in journalism/reporting if she is a criminal? so, she’s supposed to report on a child being killed by a drunk driver while we all know she has committed the crime of drunk driving??? she could’ve killed someone.
The problem is that when people are farther reach from our daily lives we are much more forgiving of their actions. She is a local celeb. She lives and works here. People will put her incident into the context, "what if I was the person she injured" because we live right here in the metro and many drive downtown/midtown regularly. It sucks but its likely what is going to happen. Had a great run on tv however.
She looks drunk even when FOX is broadcasting live. Also what’s his name,Russ he looks high too!They both probably had shots together.

I read about this hot mess yesterday on the ajc.com and Rodney Ho had the nerve to say he would shut down the page if comments about her got out of hand. (In the voice of Eazy-E) I said "Biiiiiiiiiitch…." she ain’t special. If this was any other celeb we would be reading them like a Erick James Dickey novel. This chick is a grown ass woman and made the CHOICE to drive drunk. I only have sympathy for the victim. And Ms. Davis is not the victim!

The good news is that it seems as if the injuries are not major. Thank God no one died. Ms. Davis, this was a wake up call.
I saw on the news that the victim is hospitalized and his car was totaled. Thank God no one died but her carelessness definitely created a like changing moment for a stranger. I pray she gets the help she needs but I doubt she’ll be returning to that anchor desk.
She’s been at Fox since 1986. She one of the best anchors (if not THE best). We all make foolish mistakes. She deserves another shot.
