An Atlanta church has been under fire recently after news reports that one of it’s “promiscuous” ministers was passing the HIV virus around like a collection plate.

Bishop Paul Sylvester Morton, who heads Full Gospel the church, recently issued a bit of clarification on the matter via the social networking site, twitter.
But wait… theres more! The man he is speaking of is Craig Lamar Davis and while the Bishop attempts to separate himself from the chatter, he actually just made it a bit more interesting.
Morton admits that Craig is the husband of his assistant, but he states it’s not a Full Gospel problem.

Things that me you go hmmm, NOT, its all about the coins with these ‘preachers,’ and women need to DEMAND that a man use protection when having sex in 2012, your life does depend on it, and, what’s up with a so called man of God tricking around with women without the sanctity of marriage, the hypocrisy and the church never ends.
It seems like it is a problem for their church considering some or all of the parties involved are a part of the congregation and the name of the church is being tarnished because of this incident. He should take that very seriously.

First of all everyone, Full Gospel Baptist Church is NOT (a) church, it’s a FELLOWSHIP. Bishop stated that it wasn’t a Full Gospel problem because the man mentioned is not part of the fellowship. However, his assistant is, true, but she requested not to be shown or have her name mentioned because it is possible that she may not be infected since the two have been separated for some time. Lord we get so caught up on word play these days…last time I checked the word "church" comes from the Greek "ekklesia" which means "gathering" or "assembly." Therefore, the church is the gathering of the believers who come together to participate in fellowship with one another as they worship God and hear from His Word…the Bible.

Now, whether its a church, a fellowship or a bible study group, the fact still remains that a wolf snuck up in there and brought HIV to many of the sheep thus putting all of Full Gospel at risk.
I find it odd that this Bishop is more concerned with his name being tarnished rather than the health and safety of those who come to "fellowship" with him.

I’m just simply stating that if the woman affected would’ve googled Full Gospel, she would’ve seen that it is not ONE church, it is a FELLOWSHIP that hosts numerous churches. First, when this bishop started hearing about all that …Why didn’t he pull the man aside and make him take responsibilty for his actions…how about that. like I said the black church is joke. I think he did the right thing by letting everyone know that Mr. Davis was not a preacher nor member of his church. After all Bishop Morton has been through he doesnt want his church’s image tarnished and I dont blame him. Now its a shame and sad that this happened to the women but some of the blame lies with them. First they had no business sleeping with a married man to begin with. Second why in the h*ll were they having unprotected sex with him? This is Atlanta the DL Capital. Everyone dogged Fantasia out for sleeping with a married man but wanna feel sorry for these women. First of all the pastor/bishop addressed the issue to let ppl who may be accusing HIM & his ppl that the man in question is NOT a part of their church/fellowship. I think that is allowable. I just wish he had asked for ALL parties involved to be in the communities prayers.
But we as individuals must start to take responsibility for what We allow to happen to us & our bodies. God is NOT pleased with what is going on.
1. Men pretending to be of the cloth to have sex with followers..

That sounds very typical of Bishop Paul Morton. It’s not a Full Gospel problem because it doesn’t deal with money. His only concern is money. He used to head this church in New Orleans and all members were required to turn in their W2′s in order to ensure that they were tithing properly. The congregation were not allowed to leave service unless the tithing goal was reached. He lived in a mega mansion, drove a luxury car and had a private plane while most of his congregation were living in the projects. This man is not of God. He worships money.
It is not nice to slander anyone, especially if you really don’t know what your talking about. Bishop is a true man of God,that has never claimed to be perfect, but what he is willing to do is pick up his cross and follow Christ daily. He is no more responsible for the actions of his assts. husband or the loose women willing to cheat with him. You reap what you sow, when you sow to the flesh. And if people have a problem with giving an offering or tithing, they need to take that up with God. And no he doesn’t worship money.
It is amazing to me how people really love to slander this man! I am a member of Bishop Morton’s church here in Atlanta and in New Orleans before I moved here. All of that you just said is a lie sweetheart. 85% of GSS in New Orleans was BALLIN. That may sound biased but its the truth. Yes, Bishop had money, the dream home in Eastover and lived down the street from Baby and Lil Wayne, yes he had the cars but people always seem to forget that this man is a singing preacher. He does not take money from the church. This man gave his retirement money to build his church on Greenbriar Pkwy in Atlanta. What money hungry, selfish preacher you know would do that?
As for Ms. Jan, Davis’ wife, my heart goes out to her because that was her husband. Not downplaying the other women involved but they knew what they were doing was wrong. Regardless to if this man was an actually preacher or not, he was still a married man. I personally believe that the woman who infected him with HIV did it on purpose because she found out about the others.

I sat here and analyzed what I was going to say before actually typing it. I honestly believe Bishop was trying to protect Full Gospel as a whole because everywhere you turn there’s a scandal attached to a church (Eddie Long). I do believe that he was trying to clear up any mix ups like Honey said. Now, do I agree with how he did, no. But I’m guessing if he wouldn’t have said anything and waited, the media would’ve attached the scandal to him. I am a member of his church and I know Jan, she’s sweet. But I never knew she was married. Davis was not a member of our church. My thoughts are they were separated or something. As far as the slander goes, I honestly feel like people look too deep into church. I have no issues with Bishop Morton because I’m being fed the Word of God. The man knows how to preach and it’s evident that he studies the word before preaching it to the people. Maybe if people would just go to church for the word, they’ll be fine. I think it is very unfortunate how people will use certain situations to justify not having a church home, not paying tithes REGULARLY, and having no respect for men and women ministering the word of GOD. Just say you don’t believe in GOD and keep it moving because your faith should never be in man any way. I attend an awesome ministry and you better believe if my Pastor pulled up with 10 new cars I am going to thank and praise GOD for his blessing…not question where the money come from. Any wrong doing on the Churchs end is not my issue and will eventually be exposed. Having a spiritual covering is a matter of life and death you need someone to teach you the word, teach you how to apply it to everyday life…but first YOU must have a relationship with him. Many don’t even know how to pray and forget about having any knowledge of spiritual warfare. God will honor YOUR faithfulness regardless to your surroundings. That’s not to say be stupid and knowingly stay at a church that you know the leaders are doing wrong that is where spiritual discernment comes in…when it is time to move on…move on…but don’t leave the GOD in you at the old Church…take him with you.

The Bishop should have remained silent on this issue. He attempted to deflect attention and disassociate himself from the scandal. Where is his compassion for his assistant and her privacy. Man of God, what say you? So he pointed the finger in the direction of his assistant. Instead as many have stated he could have used this as an opportunity to express concern for the epidemic of HIV and the necessity to practice safe sex. He could have also educated that this is one of the many reason G*d speaks against fornication and advocates for marriage. Pastors get more nookie than pimps because a lot of ‘church’ women have this mindset of wanting to be the ‘first lady of the church.’ Between pastors, pimps and down-low brothas it stands to reason that HIV affects more black women than any other populace – to include homosexuals.

50% of black women have herpes? That can’t be true. it would mean 50% or more of black men have herpes since black women tend to only sleep with black men. It would also mean that a good 25% of white women have herpes since beckys love black men. It would also mean that most black babies are born via c-section to avoid contact with the herpes virus but most black babies are born natural but then again most white babies are born c-section so I don’t know.
Sometimes I think the stats are false and they try and scare people and demonize black people as if we are all sex-crazed and disease ridden.
And if black people have such high rates of herpes which already lowers your immune system then how come they dont all have AIDS?
