At that time, there was no word of when the show would air or even any specific details about what type of show it would be.
Smiley has recently revealed the official cast list and I’ve also found out that LisaRaye (Single Ladies) and Kenya Moore, who happens to be Atlanta’s newest “housewife”, will be making guest appearances on the show!
Kenya shared a photo of she and Ray-J on the set recently.
Ray-J is said to be featured in a recurring role on the show as Smiley’s best friend… kinda similar to “Cole” from Martin.

Kenya will appear as the wife (or ex-wife) of someone on the show.
The sitcom will reportedly center around Smiley and his family and friends and will resemble the format of MARTIN (the former Martin Lawrence sitcom).
I heard that one of the writers on the show was actually a former writer on MARTIN back in the day and that Tommy Ford (remember Tommy with no job?), will even be making a few appearances.
LisaRaye recently appeared on Smiley’s morning show and revealed that since Single Ladies has wrapped she may do a “walk on role” on the new TVOne Show.
A few days later photos appeared of LisaRaye, Victoria Rowell and Kenya Moore on the set.
Keri Hilson is said to have been filming this week as well.
Smiley revealed the official cast listing on his website recently but as you read above, there will be a ton of walk ons and celebrity appearances:

“The Rickey Smiley Show” will make its debut on TVOne Sunday, October 14th. While MARTIN has definitely been done before, it certainly hasn’t been done recently, so I guess it’s about time for a funny… mature sitcom.

I might watch…just not the episode with Lisa Rae….rather put tooth picks in my eyes…her acting makes me wanna vomit.

I’ll give it a chance but I’d prefer if this was about singles, no kids, etc like the real Martin show. The more characters the more disastrous it may become, especially kids.
Sounds like a flop
Ray J is always appearing on other folks show or riding on his sister’s coattail on her shows. Why can’t he get a DECENT show of his own and I’m not talking about that silly show he had on VH1.
He can’t get a decent show of his own because he is wack. He wants to be relevant somewhere so bad…..he should stick to singing (maybe), and making flicks.

I don’t see this show lasting, only because Gay- J is apart of the cast. Every show he’s been on has been cancelled soon after he joins the cast.
excited about this show. i like Rickey’s comedy and observations. Also he’s great with characters, can’t wait to see Bernice Jenkins lmao. And good to hear that one of the writers used to work on "Martin".
