Whitney Houston‘s 4 hour homegoing service was held Saturday, February 18, 2012 and attended by an invitation-only crowd that was limited to family and friends.
While New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, NJ was filled with friends, family and celebrities, Houston’s funeral services were watched around the world: as it was streamed online live and shown on a number of television networks.
Houston’s funeral is slated to begin at 9 a.m. Pacific at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, N.J. — the late pop titan’s childhood church.
Houston’s ex-husband, Bobby Brown was asked to leave just minutes into the services (click HERE for details) but among those attending were Houston’s “Bodyguard” co-star Kevin Costner, cousin Dionne Warwick, Tyler Perry, Ray J, Brandy, Alicia Keys, R. Kelly, BeBe and CeCe Winans, and of course her daughter Bobbi Kristina and mother Cissy Houston.

Her service was BEAUTIFUL! They sent our Queen home the right way, and took us to CHURCH! The anointing was all over that church today! From Tyler Perry, to the Winans! My heart is still heavy, but after that home going we all know that Whitney is with our father, resting peacefully!

Tyler Perry is an amazing and blessed man.He was as rich and heartfelt in delivery as the always moving Bishop T.D. Jakes.Oh my God,his voice gave that feeling of warmth and joy church folk know just before the spirit goes through you.Whitney had some wonderful freindships in her life.
I’m also proud of CNN for bringing us to Whitney’s service uninterupted,same as they did with Michael.And SFTA gave us at least 4 up to the minute topics to commune and express unfiltered,all of our emotions. We went to church right here.I would like to take from this change in my own life. To be a freind to my bible as Whitney was to hers and apply good things we have said here to my own life.I might begin by putting my "brick" away…but then..who knows what the topics will be tomorrow? Guess change will be a gradual thing…
Loved it…. Cried when they carried her out. Beautiful service. But not to be negative, did anyone hear the pastor say we got more stars in here than the Grammy. Then made a joke directed toward Tyler Perry??? I felt thst wad tacky and inappropriate. Did anyone else hear it? I’m sure he didn’t even know my dear Whitney. Yes she was a star, that’s why she is on tv. Smh.
Did Tyler Perry turn in to Madea for a minute there? I kinda got scared for him. Seems Like Madea was comming out oh so natural. Watch the video.
This was a home going!!!!! My heart aches for them. They are all hurting. Just when I thought I had no tears left I saw Ray J touch her casket and collapse in tears. Nippy was loved and will be missed.
I thought it to be a very beautiful, fitting and moving celebration of life for Whitney….I miss her terrbly
