Imagine if twitter, facebook and cell phones with video were around when you were 14 years old.
If all the dumb decisions you made as a teen were caught on tape, would you be a different person today?
Well, one young lady by the name of Amber Cole found out first hand just how “social” social networking can be after she became a WORLDWIDE trending topic last night on Twitter.
Amber became the the most popular subject online WORLDWIDE last night after being featured in a video that went viral.
In the video, Amber is shown on her knees servicing one of her classmates with a style that could rival Superhead, and while sex tapes usually make people famous, this 14 year old girl seems to be in for a world of hurt.
Of course Amber immediately suffered the backlash of her “internet celebrity,” and is rumored to be struggling with cyber-bullying teens (and adults) who have labeled her a hoe and a hoodrat.
As 14 year old Cole is giving…ummm… “brain” to a fellow student outside what appears to be the doors of a school, another male is shown sitting and watching. There’s also, of course, at least one other person there… the one who was taping it on his phone!
Amber’s name became an instant trending topic last night, sparking a huge debate over the legalities of such a video being online.
At first I was torn about even blogging about it, but since Amber made it known she had a twitter account and begged several celebs to follow her, I figured it should be no big deal.
Here’s the thing… Amber is still only 14 year’s old, FOURTEEN!
Can you possibly think of anything SMART that you did at that age? 
I’ll wait.
I know I personally made some huge mistakes at that age and I THANK GOD everyday that there weren’t camera phones around to tape ‘em, BUT I guess most people online are as pure as the driven snow and NEVER did anything that could ever be considered “whoreish” or “hoodratish”.
Amber may have looked like a pro doing it with “no hands” but at the end of the day… she’s still a 14 year old kid. A 14 year old kid who gives head on camera, but a KID nonetheless!
Her parents are more at fault than she is at this point. So let’s try to cut Amber a lil bit of slack.

That is the problem with adults and why they get no respect you CHOOSE to throw all of the teenagers in the same category when all of us aren’t the same. I agree and have been saying the saying thing about the "late 80′s/90′s" babies….especially if they were born in "the hood." I’d never judge, they are my "peoples" but majority of these children were born destined to fail. Crack took over late 80′s, grouped with the worst teen pregnancy epidemic…both lead to bad parenting, no parents, or grandparents stuck raising grandkids! These children mostly knew about murder, drugs, and sex way tooooo early…most of us were happy watching seasame street, these kids were attending funerals of their classmates who were victims to drive by’s. This leads to a society with NO education, NO empathy towards others, abundant ignorance, and no self esteem…because no one ever told them they are actually worth something. Grouped with radio/tv promoting ONLY "Ignant Hop," not Hip Hop which only promotes money, clothes and ho’s…I can’t imagine whats to come of such a large community so lost!?!?!

I agree with you 100%. I’m a parent of a "90s" kid and I think it’s unfair to judge this kid and/or to make assumptions about her upbringing. And to the people stating "90s kids" are a lost ’cause, that’s BS. No person, let alone an entire generation, is ever a lost cause. There’s always time to change and become better; especially for these young people. Maybe if you did something to help, in lieu of passing judgment, these kids would have a better chance in life. We all make mistakes; recognize it, learn from it and move on.

I do not even believe she understands the magnitude of this. This was not a private matter between her and dude and he sent out to embarrase her, This is very public, and two other young dudes are there and it looks as if this is after school and they are on SCHOOL PROPERTY.
I’ve had a few embarrasing episodes ( staying out past curfew, sneaking in the club, going to shows, etc. as a teen, but nothing like this, I can’t high five this!
I will say that she has made a very unwise choice. Okay, first off she knew what she was doing. And if she’s doing as good as everyone says (I refuse to watch the video) then she must have done this before. She put her face out to the public by her own free choice hoping that she could get publicity from it and she’s now reaping the consequences. I hope her parents know and do something about. She is fourteen and having a reputation like this and having the world know is certainly not good for a girl her age. Good thing is, this incident will be forgotten in a week or two. Bad thing: this video will be spread by everyone, she’s gotten a bad reputation, she’ll be shunned by peers and adults, and this might come back up when it’s time for job interviews and college application time. Grown ups shouldn’t call her trash or other things out of her name, and people should stop spreading the video (isn’t it kiddy porn?!) The "director: an the others may be charged with child pornography (it’s happened before) but hopefully Amber learns from this.

This is very sad, and for those of you who don’t think the parents are to blame SHAME ON YOU. These types of things are learned in the home, or for lack of parenting within your home. This poor child has to have an absent father and no real male role models in her life. When I was younger I didn’t have a father in my life, but my uncle steped up to the plate and taught me my worth. Now I won’t say that I haven’t done some things that I am not proud of, for noone is perfect, but this I have never been a part of. ATLien, I’m not feeling you having still shots on display. 14 years old is under the age of consent for sex (I believe), although it does happen. For images of her engaged in sexual activity to be posted online is ridiculous. Please, post the story as it is worthy of being told, but the graphic images of the young man with his pants at his ankles is a bit much. This is a shame and should be seen as such.
When I was in high school I was involved in a similar situation. Two of my friends were recorded having sex on a phone and because they were my friends it was assumed I was on tape as well ( talk about guilt for association huh?) Everyday I was constantly harassed by classmates and the two girls who were actually on the tape dropped out of school. I thank god social networks weren’t that big back then, but even today when I run into people from high school they still bring it up. I just laugh it off now.

What I would like to say is that this is a concern of mine as a parent in this day & age. And I am going to use this article for my 18 yr old daughter who has done some of these stupid things from 12 on up until now. And she is still doing stupid stuff like this now. And I know her father & I have been there, been nosy, been sheltering & all that. But, these young ppl want the wrong kind of attention to be someone great these days. This young lady may have been molested at a younger age and may be acting out because of it. You always would hear stories about girls being “fast” when I was growing up. Sexual abuse was never considered. Amber, clearly has some deep issues, and I’ll be praying for this kid.

This is a little girl. She’s 14. Reposting the pictures and all that all over the web is passing along child pornography…Legally that’s what it is. This child is a minor and all participates in that video are minors. I wish blog sites would stop passing this around with the question WHAT DO YOU THINK? It don’t matter what the fuck we think. I understand your thoughts on posting the still pics; however, posting the pics only adds to the "sensationalism" of reporting. This story doesn’t need anything else to draw readers. The stills weren’t necessary to get your point across about how the video went viral and adding your personal opinion about the child’s actions.

Yo like when I was 14 I had to interest in sex. I lost my virginity at 18 after I graduated in 2008. You can’t fuck up and expect to be the victim. You could’ve said no. Maybe I’m off my hinges, but I believe her. Whomever the child is in the video, I still feel bad for her. Because from what it looks like, she’s not even aware she was being taped (notice how he covers the lens with his hand several times and the position in which he’s holding the camera), and whomever was cruel enough to tape it and UPLOAD needs to go to jail for this.

I commend this blog for doing a post on this tragic and disturbing incident. People need to be more aware of the realities of youth today. However, I think it is in poor taste to post a still shot and talk about this is in such a cavalier and nonchalant way, using street slang like “brain” and the child’s skill level.
I think it is preferable to have two parents in the home. However, I’ve grown so weary of people demonizing single parent female headed homes. Two parents do not make a home functional, loving, or healthy.
Sexuality is like anything else, the more exposed to it you are, the more familiar you become with. There could be so many different scenarios. Unsupervised computer activity, sexual abuse, watching hyper sexualized music videos – listening to vulgar music. There is nothing precious about sex anymore, people don’t think it’s socially acceptable to wait.
Oops I forgot to mention that not only is the young woman a broken troubled soul but so are these young men. Being a whore and having such utter disregard for women and a casual attitude about sex is not healthy, but revolting.

This is a shame. I think in part this IS the parents fault. I have 4 children and although I cannot watch them 24/7 I am quite sure that none of my daughters would be so disrespectful of themselves. Their father and I have talked to them about sex since they were 9. Starting with how babies are made, to reproductive processes and disease, birth control you name it they know it. My husband and I do not sweep sex under the rug, if our children have questions we answer them straight and to the point no skipping around it and making it rosy. I watched the video for the first time last night. WOW! This girl learned this by watching and practicing. You can teach your children all the correct things to do and say; yet they still have other influences outside of the household. I know this from my own experiences growing up. As a result, I stand by what I stated: her parents are not necessarily at fault.
Furthermore, my statement did not pertain to whether her parents could be charged based on their child’s actions. I simply stated that they are not necessarily at fault for something their child did. Meaning: there is no proof that her parents taught/encouraged her to do what she did.

Some parents try to raise their kids the best way. These children make their own decisions sometimes they try to fit in with school or community. They don’t care what they do to fit in. I seen preachers’ kids taught to grow up the right way. Then make their own turns and they end up in Juvenile and jail.
This young lady is not a victim, she knew what she was doing and what she was getting herself into. It this was to be a "private moment" she would have been alone with one boy. But this girl was doing it front of a group of people, trying to be seen. Her parents are at fault and they all should be embarrassed. I just hope she learns her lesson and move on. I’m fourteen now and for all of those saying that the 90′s babies are a lost cause then you need to observe these people better. There are actually a few (like me) who actualy think before they act. Who knows… She may not actually act they way that is shown in the video. She may have had her head on straight but just didn’t consider the aftermath of her actions.
