Jamal Parris, one of the 4 men who recently settled a sexual misconduct lawsuit against Bishop Eddie Long, faced a judge yesterday on charges that he was in possession of marijuana, cash and a loaded gun while driving his brand new BMW in Miami.
If you recall, Jamal is the young man who emotionally addressed Long via a startling open letter on FaceBook, he also was ambushed by reporters who caught his fragile state on film…

When Parris was arrested back in July, I honestly felt that the drugs were being used to numb the pain of his being molested by a man he trusted.
Well, Parris backs up my theory and totally blames his legal woes on Bishop Eddie Long.
Details…
Parris pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute marijuana and was sentenced to one year of probation and 75 hours of community service.
When asked about the charges, Jamal admits that his issues stem from the hands of Bishop Eddie Long:
I read so many comments after I got arrested, but nobody ever took the time to look and say say, ‘Yo, what the hell did he do?’
You caught me with bud? Look at the sign of sexual abuse victims. What’s the very first sign on any website you’ll see? Alcoholism drug abuse.
Parris told WSBTV reporter Jodie Fleischer he’s in therapy to deal with his pain and anger and hopes people will reserve judgment about him.
Judge me again, and then judge me again, and then judge me again. And still ask me could you do half the stuff we walked through?
I’m still bringing the same demons and nightmares, so now I’m living a lifestyle that’s meant to crash.
He’s got a point. No judgment here. The entire situation is so sad. I pray Jamal finally gets the help he needs.
Does the blame really fall on Bishop Eddie Long for the issues of these young men? Thoughts?

This is crazy. So because you were supposedly sexually assaulted and received millions of dollars, to help with your problems, you need to sell weed. GTFOFH!!
Yes and no. These boys had fundamental issues prior to meeting Eddie Longstroke. However, Longstroke compounded the issues when he molested them. People who have been victimized typically act out even into adulthood.
Hes a grown man.i feel bad that he was assaulted.but damn well everybody who walked dis earth has been through something dat we could smoke and drink 2 try 2 cope.he needs 2 get help and move on.
@Reginia=Well Said/Spoken’
Partially, yes, Eddie Long does deserve some of the blame. There’s no telling how much mental and emotional damage he has caused these boys, and no amount of money can fix that. Was he really selling weed or was it for his own use? But moving forward, Jamal and the rest of them are going to have make better choices and not allow what happened to them to destroy their lives.
Eddie was their spiritual leader… that has to place some doubt in these mens lives, but there are plenty states where mj is legal, he still has to take responsibility for his own actions to grow, no matter what he’s been through
How the fuck they go blame him for they fucking problems. Yall got that damn money and went crazy dnt know how to handle. You get what you deserve. MAN THE FUCK UP
They were old enough to know right from wrong.
He plead guilty to possession with intent to distribute. It doesn’t mean he actually dealt drugs. (I’m taking this post at face value, without having investigated the charges.) It doesn’t mean he actually intended to. It simply means that he had a certain amount of the drug on him that can qualify him for such a charge (the amount varies by state). It can also mean that he had drug paraphanalia on him like weighing instruments, bags, etc.
Again, just because he plead guilty to the charge, JUST BECAUSE HE WAS CHARGED WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE, it DOES NOT MEAN HE ACTUALLY DEALT DRUGS OR PLANNED TO.
We need to do more research when it comes to the law and to Black people who are condemned by Whites, before we rush to judgment. #wecandobetter
Did Eddie take him to the dope house? Did he force him to buy it? LOL
Another thing: I’m assuming he didn’t have drug paraphernalia on his person, because if he did, that’s always revealed in the charges, and in the sensationalized media account that follow. If they didn’t reveal that, then I’m assuming he wasn’t found with that, which means it was unlikely he was actually selling or "distributing" the marijuana in the first place.
He was driving a BMW when he was arrested. He received a (dirty money, but I understand) payout from that bastard pervert and fraud, Eddie Long. So he had the money to buy the BMW. He also had the money to buy more than enough marijuana to numb his pain, shame, and sorrow.
So I’m assuming that was why he was charged with intent to distribute, because of the amount he had on his person. And not necessarily because he actually had the intention to sell it, or because of any evidence of interest in selling it. I hope that’s clear.
Again, I’m just taking the post at face value, with some understanding of the law.
Stop looking for excuses!
I don’t doubt these men have endured physical, emotional & mental pain from the abuse; however, Eddie Long cannot be held accountable for every bad decision they make in their life. He (Jamal) needs to accept responsibility for the poor decisions & choices he’s made.
Can you equate the mental, physical trauma of an abused child victim with anything they do as an adult? Most often yes. You’ll deny them that fact because of the type of crime they committed. .
But wait! (Straight From the A) did not mention the part when Jamal Parris was arrest on July 1. There also was a passenger in his car with him, whose a GAY-PORN star…..Know you tell me what’s up with that?????
Own your blame! Can’t blame Bishop for everything not right with you! You are You!
@Regina, I and all my brother’s attended Catholic Grammar & High-school.
I can’t say we were ABUSED, But the NUNS did believe in CORPORAL PUNISHMENT.
My question to you is; If I or my brother went out TODAY and ROB a Bank or Rape and Killed someone. Is it safe to say we were VICTIMIZE by the Archdiocesan?
Although bishop was wrong for using GOD’s house and name for illicit gain, he is not responsible for the decisions and actions of grown folks!if u can’t stand the big league, u should stay out of the game. Stop faking the funk, cause the world ain’t no joke!
MAN HELL…ERY’BODY AND THEY MAMA KNOW YOU CANT RIDE ROUND SOUTH FLORIDA INA BRAND NEW RIDE… WITH A BRICK IN THE FUCKIN CAR!!…AND NOT THINK YO SISSY ASS NOT GO GET STOPPED!!! BWOI STOOOPPP!!!
At a certain age(YOUR TEEN’S) a person know the difference between RIGHT & WRONG and should be held ACCOUNTABLE for the action.
BISHOP LONG INITIATED IT; And ALL Them boys knew exactly what they were getting themselves into, when they ALL (DECIDED) to engage sexually with BISHOP…..Every last one of them.
@Gracian, your absolutely right “Straight from the A” did not mention the part that the INDIVIDAL who was with Jamal Parris in his car was a GAY PORN STAR……..”Brids of a feather”
Nope!
He is taking this to far now. He need to grow up and b a man. Ugh i hate when ppl blame others for something they had full control over.
Dis whole entire case was about money cuz if it was me no amount of money would take away da scars dat my abuser left me wit and I would want 2 c his/her ass behind bars or @ least get somebody 2 f*ck em up dats just my opinion
Partly and some belongs to us as a community some on the parents and some on them. No innocent parties here
It is apparent that not many who have responded to these young men have experienced being abused by a same sex authority figure and what baggage it leaves. It is easy for us to look through the window and think we are in the house. These young men, without true deliverance from God, will NEVER be able to just get over it. The worst advice to give someone who has suffered emotional as well as physical abuse by the hands of their father/father figure is , GET OVER IT. The baggage they now battle just with their sexuality is enormous. Imagine being a woman and telling your mother that your step father abused you and she doesn’t believe you. Now imagine that millions of people know and thousands not only don’t believe but some now hate you. These youngmen have a lot on their plates. I have been and will continue praying for them.
Ok first of all I still don’t believe they were molested. Even if Eddie Long did ask them for some “A”zz they were ALL old enough to know whether or not they wanted to do him and ALL of them went through with it. I really feel like he shouldn’t blame anybody but himself for this particular issue. Nobody forced him to buy weed NOR did anybody force him to drive around with it in his car. This is just another case of a nigger (any ignorant person) being a nigger.
And I still think they just wanted money any way. Have you seen/heard what they’ve upgraded from? I truly and honestly believe (if this really did happen) that he asked them for “A”zz and the sex was just bad. I know that’s probably coming off as judgmental but no I really do empathize with they’ve gone through because I have several friends that have gone through this situation and are still not over it. It’s just my opinion that the sex was bad and they were mad about it….
I bet Eddie made him buy that BMW as well. GTFOH!
@ Gracian, how is your example comparable to what these young men endured?? They were sodomized, sexually assaulted, while simultaneously being told to look at their rapist as their "daddy".
How does that compare to the disciplinary actions carried out by nuns??
These guys are “breaking their silence” for what? They were paid an undisclosed amount and putting in jepardy for what else? A bigger payday! They writing books and shit now. The publisher probably gave them a fat advance for their story. Read between the lines. They have already exposed the man. What else you want? You sued and got paid. That shit is old news now fellas. Move on!!!
@Pastor Richard–thank you for that comment! I’m totally disheartened by the lack of compassion (or even an ounce of trying to understand) these young men have received from the public. I saw Jamal and Spencer’s interview on the news today and it’s apparent that Spencer is dealing with this much better than Jamal. I’m really concerned about his mental and emotional health. I hope that we don’t read about him taking his own life because of not only the damage from Eddie Long, but because of the response from the public. It’s also apparent that they are very angry with the people from Atlanta.
Fuck that Bishop is a playa and he played them boys and when they found out that’s when shit hit the fan
[...] Young man blames Bishop Eddie Long for weed arrest – Straight from the A [...]
This is so sad on so many levels because these young men are sentenced to a lifetime of pain & memories of abuse, and to the contrary no amount of money can you dull the pain or heal those emotional wounds.. Sexual abuse is very destructive because the predator learn to control & prey on your emotions, to make you think what is wrong is right, and go against everything you know is what you are feeling.. You are raped emotionally first, so I can see wanting to numb that pain..How sad that is for those young men.. May they continue to get help and God protect them..
I don’t understand how having weed in his car is Bishop Long’s fault. I guess it will be Bishop Long’s fault down the road when he’s fired from a job. I guess it will be Bishop Long’s fault when he is not a good father to his un-born child. I guess it will be Bishop Long’s fault when he goes to jail the next time when he’s caught with illegal drugs. I guess it will be Bishop Long’s fault when he runs a red light. I guess it will be Bishop Long’s fault when he’s pulled over for driving 75 mph in a 35 mph zone. Geesch! Give me a break.
Your initial theory was pure speculation. And this fool might have read your post on said day. I absolutely do not buy his excuse. He can attempt to rationalize his behavior by blaming someone else; but his bum butt was caught with weed, not Mr. Long. And for the record, I live in NYC. I do not attend Mr. Long’s church. This guy just lost all sympathy from me. He can blame everything wrong that he does on someone else, if people buy his excuse. Dude, take the money and get yourself an education. Then use your experience to educate others.
Enough already. They can’t have it both ways. They agreed in a settlement to remain quiet about the "details" of their excursions, now they feel the need to "tell it all". I agree they were in vulnerable places in their lives when Mr. Long befriended them. He may have made (nobody knows for sure) sexual advances toward them, but they weren’t 9 or 10. They look like healthy able-bodied young men. If they didn’t want to be touched, why didn’t they state that clearly and contact law enforcement citing attempted assault? Didn’t know that had that right? Bullhit. The average 6 year-old will threaten to call the law if you touch them. They liked the goods they were receiving and decided it was worth it. Then the gifts stopped. Parris’ excuses wil never stop. He will always blame someone for his poor decisions. Unfortunately, he will be arrested again and in 5 years, he’ll be flat broke. Sexual abuse of a minor is certainly not a benign matter, but even those victims are held accountable for upholding the law. We all have our pain and disappointments. Most of us don’t get a few million dollars to help us cope with our frustrations. They all need to get jobs and make a contribution to the world in which we live. Only then will their lives have meaning for them. After all, the money will be gone and my guess is, sooner, rather than later.
This is pure bullshit. I was molested as a child by two male relatives who paid off a third female relative to keep it a secret and I never turned to drugs nor alcohol… Was I scarred from that yes, but guess what I moved the fuck on.
Bishop Long will be judged by God for what he did, but I don’t see how needs to be blamed for Jamal going to the weed man to re-up. Am I missing something here? I think not!
in my opinion when the entire thing came out about Bishop Long, my thing is even a little boy knows about "good touch bad touch" heck they teach that in school if you did get it taught at home. So I feel that ALL these boys knew what they were doing. No for you to sit up in a court room or where ever and say you are dealing with demons.. that is your fault because God was not apparently riding with you when you had that weed and gun..this what is talking about is #garbage
Wow… all these comments/accusations sounds like dejavu! Wait…sounds like the same things they accused Michael Jackson of… only to be proven he didn’t do anything…even though he did settle out of court..
Jamal, has a huge attitude and likes the cameras and the attention too too much. He thinks that he deserves a pass in life and is entitled to it all, without any work on his part. Jamal, forgets that we all came through the stage that he is passing thru and we knew very well right from wrong. Jamal was lovers with Bishop Long, by choice and enjoyed all the benefits attached. He is just hurt that he is not the "IT BOY" anymore and the benefits stopped. Sad part is that he does not know that this situation will not have a happy conclusion for him and he should let it go. He got the money, now go on and get some education and start building a life for yourself!
yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Absolutely YES
Sigh….
[...] Jamal Parris Blames Eddie Long for his Weed Arrest… [...]
This is just my opinion! And I did say MY! I do believe whatever occured between these young guys and Eddie Long does play a big part in there thinking! Can you only imagine the power someone in that authority has over a young person mind! No we can’t say he took this guy to buy drugs but we can say he lead him down a destuctive path in life if what they say happened is true. You can pay any amount of money to a victim but it does not erase the damage that has been done! Do you realize how hard it would be for a child to tell a authority figure in there lives no don’t touch me/ no I don’t want you to buy me anything! People like this prey on the weak and make the weak feel as if they are doing nothing wrong – just getting gifts! YOU CAN GIVE A SEXUALLY ASSAULTED VICTIM ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD AND IT WILL NEVER REMOVE THE DAMAGE THAT HAS BEEN DONE NOR WILL IT MAKE THEM FORGET WHAT HAS OCCURED! Its so easy for people to say get over it!!! Well I always say if you never been in a person shoes you will never know there story!!!! I applaud these guys for coming forward!!!! They have strength that other victims – dream of having!!! What I do wish for these guys is that they allow themselves a time for healing so they can forgive where whatever happened will not remain a reason or a scapegoat for them to continue to use that situation as a reason not to try to live a better life!!! The world was not made in one day and if you have ever experienced the death of a loved one that pain did not end in a day either – so I said that to say this – its a process they must go through to get through it but the most important part is they are now able to talk about it! But due to the fact its about someone that was/is in the spotlight its a lot harder to deal with! Can you imagine trying to get over something where everywhere you turn everyone is bringing it up or following you, or wanting money from you!!! Its hard to let things go when you have to face it everyday!!!! So everyone be Blessed and Like I said its just MY OPINION!!!!! Love You ALL!!!!
Weed, alcohol, sex, drugs or a 2011 BMW will not cure your pain. Its only a temporary band aid. Moving from state to state the same thing. When u move, don’t u take your brain with you. The only solution is to find your God, and a real Bible teaching church. Find one partner that will love u, not a porn star. That will bring drama in your life. This is a start of a new beginning learn from this experience, its time to grow up and be a role model to other abused young men and women. Its much more to life than sex, and smoking weed. Selling drugs will lead you to prison or the cemetery.
