Ernie & Bert have lived together for years. They hang out together, don’t date use, they use bathroom with the door open, and they sleep in separate beds.
Apparently that’s what a marriage is made of because an online petition was created that says the two BFF’s should tie the knot… and thousands agree. 
The petition states:
In this horrific age of LGBT kids taking their own lives, they need to know that they ARE BEAUTIFUL and their lives are worth living. Aside from those that are committing suicide, the bullies that facilitate these tragedies need to learn that homophobia is NOT okay.
They need to know that acceptance of their fellow human beings would indeed plant a seed of peace that will reverberate throughout the world. We are not asking that Sesame Street do anything crude or disrespectful by allowing Bert & Ernie to marry.
It can be done in a tasteful way. Let us teach tolerance of those that are different. Let Sesame Street and PBS Kids be a big part in saving many worthy lives.

Bert and Ernie are best friends. They were created to teach preschoolers that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves.
Even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human traits and characteristics (as most Sesame Street Muppets™ do), they remain puppets, and do not have a sexual orientation.
I personally never thought they were anything more than just friends… but that’s just me.

It’s a darn shame that people have nothing better to do. Everybody is not gay or wants to be gay, children watch the show for goodness sakes!!!! These are puppets/toys/inanimate objects used for the amusement and teaching to children around ages 3 and 4. You know something is wrong in the world when grown folk see fit to indoctrinate kids that young with their own views of sex and relationships. Lots of kids that age don’t even know how they came to be born but they’re supposed to have an opinion on ghay marriage? Ridiculous.

But besides that, why are we trying to teach kids about gay sex at such an early age. As a child and an adult I don’t want to think of my parents having sex..
