Jamal Paris, one of the 4 men who recently settled a sexual misconduct lawsuit against Bishop Eddie Long, posed for the above mugshot after being arrested a few days ago in his new home of Miami Beach, Florida.
Jamal, the oldest of the accusers was the only one to publicly provide lengthy, in-depth details about the allegations. First in a startling open letter to Long, then in an emotional video after being ambushed by Fox I-Team reporters.

Parris is now back in the news after facing a bit of legal problems stemming from drugs and weapons. *sigh*
Details below:
According to the arrest report, around 6:28 p.m. on Tuesday (June 28, 2011), Parris was driving his brand new 2011 BMW 328i when a trooper pulled him over after noticing “a weathered temporary tag”.
The trooper noted he “smelled a strong and distinct odor of marijuana.” During the stop, Parris told the trooper he had a “firearm in a bag” in the back seat.
The officer wrote that he found the gun and “50 small clear zip lock bags” consistent with selling pot.
The report says that Parris had “$1,251″ in cash in his pocket and in the trunk, officers found “181 grams” “of “suspected marijuana.”
The trooper felt all the evidence was “indicative of a drug dealer” and Parris was arrested. He was charged with felony count of marijuana distribution and use of firearm during commission of a felony and bonded out later that night.

Parris had apparently been living in Miami only 3 short weeks prior to the incident. Sources close to the case revealed to Fox5 I-Team:
“Parris moved to Miami to “attend Miami Dade College” and had already registered for school. He “bought a handgun in Atlanta for protection.”
The BMW was paid for with “money from the Long settlement.” Parris has told friends he just wanted to finish college in Miami.
I told y’all a while ago this case may be settled but it’s far from over. Now these traumatized young men have a pocket full of dough (settlement info) but many apparently still haven’t faced their demons.
Just FYI… another accuser, Anthony Boyd, one of the men accused of breaking into Bishop Eddie Long’s church, faced a judge on those charges last week and is said to have showed up to court with a limo driver.
Again… a POCKET FULLA DOUGH and still fighting.
These young men will forever be haunted by Long and what he “allegedly” did to them behind closed doors and I’m praying that they each one day find peace.

I think he will forever be numbing his pain with whatever substances he now has money to buy.Whether he’ll ever turn to God to free him from that demon’s memory is soley for him to decide,but evidence seems to point to a slow spiral.If I had his money,I would’ve changed my location too,too bad he can’t change his name.
I have absolutely no sympathy for Jamal Parris, because he was never a victim of Eddie Long’s from the beginning, and as far as i’m concerned he should be tried in open court like the rest of us would be.

I will say this. If I were molested, sexually abused and mislead by a pastor – I wouldn’t want his money. I would want to see that person locked away so they couldn’t hurt anyone else and if in the process of him being locked away I gain money for damages fine but I wouldn’t settle out of court.
These guys were all about the money. If they really wanted him to pay they would have stuck it out. And I’m sorry they cannot say Bishop Long could have bought his way out because that’s not true. In this church hostile environment – any court is looking for a pastor especially a mega church pastor to crucify. And who better to crucify than a man of GOD who has made numerous stands against homosexuality.

When a young girl finally tells the truth about her uncle or her step father or father raping her and no one believes her and she later falls victim to drugs, prostitution, or an abusive relationship; Is that the Lord working because she never should have told from the beginning. I knew two girls personally who’s mother was arrested for prostituting them out for her drug habit. I remember the one who went to school with me TELLING people this but no adults took further action. She later became a prostitute and was killed. Is that the Lords work as well? Because she became a prostitute, did that discredit her story that her mother was selling her to grown men. What if the mother would have never got caught? Jamal Parris has made some poor choices here, without a doubt. But everything this 24 year-old young man does is going to be scrutinized. I’m so sick of callous people showing no compassion to Jamal and the other victims. I’m convinced that this young man was/is deeply wounded and is crying out for help. Pain, hurt and anger doesn’t go away just because you win a settlement and get paid. Those negative emotions left unresolved will lead to a downward spiral. Don’t make light of someone else’s misery and pain lest you find yourself in that same situation. I sincerely pray that he gets counselling and finds himself in a "real" church with a "real/true" pastor who can mentor him. Instead of attacking Jamal, let’s lift him up.
Victims/survivors of sexual abuse usually go on a self destructive path without counseling. He should take that money and get help until he is emotionally healed. Becoming a criminal and drug addict is not the answer to personal pain. If he ruins the rest of his life he negates the victory he and his attorney fought so hard to win.
