  • Reality Show Alert! “Tha Life” aka The Real GAYS of Atlanta… [VIDEO]

    Feb, 22 2011 | Written by ATLien

Meet the men of “Tha Life,” an Atlanta reality show that focuses on the lives of 6 gay men. [Sidebar: I had to crop out two to make that picture fit.] I got this in my email the other day and I don’t know how y’all kept this from me all this time!

As an avid fan of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and an Atlanta resident, I can fully appreciate this new concept of following the lives of these fabulous men. I was originally hoping Dwight Eubanks, Lawrence Washington Miss Lawrence & Derek J would finally come together with their own spin-off of RHOA, but this one goes a step further.

There’s six gay “housewives”: Al (the “Superstar”), Donte (the “Moneymaker”), Terrence (the “Mayor of Atlanta”), Will (“Mr. Socialite”), J. Will (“Mr. Unpredictable”), and Dr. George Smith (the “New Face” of Atlanta).

I swear these old stunt queens floss harder than any RHOA cast mate ever could, driving Benz’s & Bentley’s around town while sipping on Mojitos and Cosmos all night long at the club.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry but I learned a whole lot from watching this.

    Get you some below:

VIDEO: The Real GAYS of Atlanta (Reality Show)

Oh yeah… shout out to ex-V-103 “Girl Talk” host Miss Sophia, who was spotted in several of the drag show scenes.

    Al - The Super Star
    Donte - the money maker
Terrance - The Mayor of Atlanta

    Will - Mr. Socialite
    J. Will - Mr. Unpredictable
Dr. George Smith - The New Face of ATL

What do y’all think of this new Reality Show concept?

Thumbs up or That Ain’t It?

And please stop calling these men ladies! It’s an insult to women and an insult to men. Even though I don’t approve of that mess I wouldn’t figuratively castrate a dude just cuz he’s gay. Calling a grown man a lady is just as insulting as calling him "boy." Get your mind right!

At first I think this is too much. But then as I watched the clip I start to think, as a single woman this could be educational in terms of how to pick out the down low brother. The funny part is most of the dudes don’t fit the sterotype of what we think a gay man is. If you didn’t know any better you would first think they were straight. And they are some nice looking dudes too. Most women would go for them because they are handsome, clean cut and seem to have their lives together. I’m not sure if mainstream television is ready for this yet. This is a show for hbo, cinemax or showtime. I think I would watch.

How are these dudes ballin’ in apartments? I didn’t see one skyline or landscape in that, um, ‘footage’. Bitch please. Everybody with iMovie wants to be a producer now.

Not to mention, no man, gay or straight, spends every night in the club, if they have half of a career.

As long as they don’t act all queenie with annoying screaming laughs and mannerisms they should be okay. From the clip, they seem to be classy, stylish, career oriented swag. Not like that horrible "Noah’s Ark"(a bunch of cute guys who can’t act they’re way out of a paper bag) I think I’ll like it.Atlanta has the sleekest visuals in black reality that I’ve seen so far.

Gay men, and lesbian women need JESUS. They are nasty and disgusting, they can’t make it as a real woman or man the way they were born so they have to try and be the gender they weren’t born. fake men carrying purses, wearing womens clothes and shoes, makeup, wigs, acting like a women, and fake bulldagging, studbroads, feminine lesbian women, are as disgusting as the men using fake penises to be pretend to be men wearing mens clothes, shoes, butch haircuts, facial hair, because they don’t won’t to be women who bleed every month, until they hit menopause, Carrying rainbow colored flags, and wearing the color purple to symbolize they are disgusting, all gay are going to hell, so they better get right with GOD before they die.

Another show to degrade and stero type black men. Its bad enough they have a hard time with being a man, now this will bring humility to ATL. I don’t …how far one would go to make a dollar. Is there a show about gay white men? Nah I didn’t think so…hey will let this race make a @%&! of themselves….

PLEASE READ!!!!! I first of all want to say I am g a y and I’m not going to watch. The g a y guys that have normal lives (NOT DL) have a hard time getting society to see us as a regular people that just want to live a decent life; and what do we get? Well, we get this trash adding to the negative way America see us. Is there a show that can be done about gay guys that are not club heads, with real careers, real homes (not apartments) that are not overly accessorized and looking like animals? Not just these guys but you punks going around talking loud, dressed as women, carry purses, wearing makeup with a bald fade, acting like women calling each other girl, make me sick! I honestly hate you! You make life so hard and it sickens me. How many people do you know takes a clown serious? This is why we cannot get anything pushed through with the American people; it is how people view the community. I know it will not mean much to the people on here reading but I just want to make it 100% clear this trash does not represent any aspect of my life or my friends so please only view this an Atlanta thing. Most gays in Atlanta love to be looked at as clowns and these guys should fit right in.

I think that this is a wast of attractive young black men and its not because they are gay its because they are taking time out to show the world what we already know we know there are gay men out there and we know that some of them are well off what is this showing us that gays have the same problems as women and they always will because they are dealing with men right and any body knows that if your dealing with a man problems will come into play its just a show that is not needed.

This show will be no better or worse than the Real Housewives of Wherever. American life is diverse. Men and women are free to live authentic lives. ATL happens to have a greater openness in its community, and I am very proud to be a part of its diversity. We are accepting of everyone from the flamboyant to the conservative, from the totally out to the totally in the closet. It doesn’t matter. And for the Bible thumpers, you are in for a rude awakening when you find how much misinterpretation has been attach to the true Word of God. Kudos to the writers, producers, and especially for the actors. There is room for this show in America and it is long overdue. Namaste.

This is an awful idea, and I hate the fact that Atlanta would consider this type of show. This makes me angry…This city has completely gone in the wrong direction from what it used to be. I don’t diss-like gays but I do have a problem with that flamboyant sissy acting attitude and everyone already makes fun of us "real" Atlantan’s for being a gay city…this going to add fuel to the fire. This is just embarrassing. I wish Atlanta could go back in time before it was infested with gays and punks from other cities…let all the displaced folks that can’t afford to live in Atlanta come back in the city and take it back over…At least we had pride, values, and our own identity back then. I’d rather live in the dangerous Atlanta of old with all the project housing and slums than live in a city that celebrates glitz, glamor, gossip, wealth, socialites, and promotes homosexuality. The city is glamorizing bullshit- this website helps add to it. Atlanta was not founded on all this. Hard working middle class people built this city only to give it way to this bullshit….?
