Word on the curb is that Lauryn Hill’s recent Atlanta concert was a major disappointment.
While anxious fans filled the intimate venue awaiting her performance, Lauryn hit the stage 3 hours late. Once there, she performed the same music over and over again and was eventually boo’d by disgruntled crowd:
Lauryn promptly confused her fans by announcing that she was tired of “playing the same music night after night.” Hill told the shocked audience that she wanted to play something different. She then instructed her band to speed up the music, which rendered her classic hits unrecognizable.
The insider said Hill urged the audience to sing along, saying, “I want crowd participation.”
“But nobody could participate because NOBODY knew the music!,” said the fan. “Everybody was looking around like ‘WHAT SONG IS THIS???’”
To complicate the situation further, the fan said the band was way too loud. “We kept asking her to tell the band to turn the music down,” said the fan. “We couldn’t hear her.”
The source said other concertgoers booed the singer and then took their bags and purses and “stomped out” of the theater. “They didn’t walk out — they stomped out!” she emphasized. READ MORE

Why doesn’t she just sing! Why does she make it so difficult. She doesn’t need the money? Doesnt she have plenty of children to raise?
I don’t understand why she won’t write new music that is good. Or get with a producer who understands what type of music she wants to sing. She needs to just sing. If she wants to send out messeges and empower her fans there are plenty of negatvie news stories, and bad situations people get themselves into that she can teach us about.
I have a friend who went to this concert and she claims that it was a really good show, although she did come late.
Everybody is different…she may have like it, but the "insider" didn’t. *shrugs*

My older cousin is a huge fan of Miss Lauren Hill and she went and hated it.My cuz told me that she did nothing familiar but I told her that she was on some other stuff.I really feel that Miss Hill has mental issues.

I saw her pull her son, Zion, onto the stage and he looked so humiliated and sad. Not pleased at all to be up there … I HATE it when singers do this to their children. Children are not your property or chattle to parade around. If you like being on stage – FINE! But leave the children out of it!!
i saw lauryn hill in charlotte , the week before she came to atlanta. She did remix the songs and her voice isnt the same as it used to be. But what i can say is that it takes a special person to understand lauryn hill. she is before her time and a true artist. I read Talib Kweili talking about her and he was saying that Lauryn would prefer to come out and recite a poem or string her guitar? I mean is the world ready for a geniuine artist that is not Hollywoodized. Especially in Atlanta where materialism is the norm and not consciousness and purity. I would pay to see her everynight. The sister is a blessing and a true artist.
Her mental issues are that she is not afraid to love herself. Now when Beyonce was not holding note in her early career everyone applauded. No matter what this sis has knowledge beyond the stars and most dont even use enough of their brain mass to grasp her message. I say Lauryn needs to do a better job of knowing her true fanbase.
