According to the video below 42% of Black women have never been married. I’m not one of those so maybe my evaluation may not be as credible as some, but I am single (divorced) and I do have standards concerning to men I consider sharing space. Being from Atlanta, I’ve seen first hand how times have changed and I know I’m not the only one who’s noticed the increasing ratio of Gay to Straight men. But even considering all of those factors, I still think that Black woman are getting a bad rap.
Are we too picky? Are the statistics accurate? Is this a racial problem? So many questions. Video below:
What pisses me off most about this video is that we, as Black woman are often called “picky” when we excel in life and choose not to settle, while White women are merely “single” and looking.
“Even if every Black male married a black woman today. One in 12 still wouldn’t make it down the aisle.“
A successful Black woman who’s unmarried is looked upon as some sort of anomaly, as if we’re wasting our talents being successful instead of being wives and mothers. It’s sad how the same doesn’t apply to White women.
Steve Harvey even notes in the video that Black woman should alter their requirements quite a bit, stating, “If you make $150,000 does he HAVE to make $150,000 or more?”
My answer: Why not?

i love your thinking very much. i am a black male and i agree with you 100% over the years i have learned to learn from black women. it was said "when in Rome, do as the Romans do". and finally i have learned to do as black women do.
your logic, if a black man does not earn $150,000 and you make that income or higher, why settle for someone who is not up to your standards?
well gosh darnit! i agree! do not settle. that is the standard set by black women. and since that is the standard i finally realize how much of a fool i have been to deal with black women!
I roller bladed 10 miles today. i have yet to meet a black woman who could do it or even think it. Well, you guys are not up to my standard. i have dated black women who had not finished their under grad degree when i had finished my undergrad and was working on my law degree. well gosh darnit, i should not have done it.
i have gone out with black women whose idea of exercise was sitting in front of the tv and eating potato chips. well gosh darnit, i was a fool again.
out of several hundred black women, you will find one who could be a companion if the black man enjoyed working out in nature. gosh darnit, i was a fool again.
until white folk told them so, it was difficult to get black women to stop eating poorly. i should never have even tried to tell them how to eat better. they only want to learn from white folk anyway.
thank you for your education and for the education so many other black women have taught me over the years that cheating, lying, being lazy, not working on nation building, not having any food consciousness, any health consciousness, spending a fortune on hair, nails both toe and finger nails made more sense than investing in businesses. i am so glad to be taught by you.
thank you again.
so when you see me walk down the street with my non black woman, remember, you taught me and i am grateful i do not have to go home to hoochie momma, loud, argumentative, dyke female.
thank you
"My answer: Why not?"
Uh… because it’s sexist and antediluvian considering it’s 2011? Guys don’t (can’t) do that, so why should women?
i love only black women sexy
