Alphonso Ribeiro Speaks on Maia Campbell + His Tyler Perry Connection
I spotted Alphonso Ribeiro a few days ago during the Atlanta screening of “Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself.” Ribeiro, best known for his antics as Carlton Banks alongside Will Smith on The Fresh Prince of Bel Aire, has been in television since he was knee high to a grasshopper. He’s even starred alongside the Jackson’s during their Pepsi commercial days:
I got a chance to catch up with Alphonso to find out what he’s been up to lately. As you know, Alphonso also starred alongside LL Cool J and Maia Campbell on “In the House” so of course the major question on my mind was if he’d seen that infamous Maia Campbell video. Alphonso graciously answered and even shed some light on his Tyler Perry connection:
“It’s really unfortunate to see her that way. She was one of my co-stars on “In The House” and we’d lost touch and hadn’t communicated since the show aired. I actually had no knowledge of any of her problems until someone showed me that video recently on the internet. It was awful! I’m deeply saddened by it all but she is definitely in my prayers and I wish her the best. We should all continue to pray for Maia Campbell.”
When asked about why he was in town, Alphonso told me that he was in town because he’s currently working with Tyler Perry studios as the executive director of Tyler Perry’s “Meet The Browns.” He doesn’t live here (yet) but files back and forth from his hometown of LA.

September 13, 2009 @ 5:45 am@Brother Muhammad, As Salaam Alaikum. Thank you for understanding what I was writing. People, especially “Christians”, think their responsibility ends with pray. It is far better to give someone a drink of water when they are thirsty than to pray that someone else will, especially when you have the power to provide the water. Selah.
