The-Dream was still in custody Wednesday afternoon, but his rep released a statement shortly after his arrest and he is maintaining his innocence.
‘Dream voluntarily surrendered to the Midtown North Precinct this morning in order to responsibly address the false allegations filed against him by Lydia Nam.
‘He is innocent of the charges filed against him today, and we are confident that when this case is concluded and all the evidence has been reviewed, it will be clear that he is innocent.’
The incident is alleged to have happened at the Plaza Hotel in New York City about three months before Lydia gave birth but for some odd reason, she waited almost 7 months (November 2013) before filing a police report.
Reports are there was no indication as to if she sought medical attention following the reported assault. But a source close to the the 36-year-old musician has insisted to TMZ.com that the claims are untrue, adding that Dream believes the Nam is a ‘vengeful woman who’s plotting to use this alleged crime as a way to extend her visa in the US.’
The alleged assault isn’t the first domestic violence case that Dream has been accused of being involved in.
TMZ.com also reports that Dream was arrested last June following another incident that involved Nam, but she declined to press charges, and the case was rejected by the District Attorney.
The Dream has three children with his first wife, singer Nivea, as well as a daughter with second wife Christina Milian and an infant son with Nam.
