Atlanta Hosts Women in Hip-Hop Panel for BET’s “My Mic Sounds Nice” [PHOTOS, VIDEO + FULL EPISODE]

Monday, August 30, 2010, Princess (of Crime Mob) played host to a special Atlanta viewing party for BET?s new documentary ?My Mic Sounds Nice: A Truth about Women and Hip-Hop?.

Female MC, Rasheeda, V-103 DJ Traci Steele; model, Dawn Motgomery; hip-hop publicist, Dee Dee Cocheta; pop-culture expert Ronda Racha Penrice; music industry executive, Shanti Das; and rapper, Eshe from Arrested Development all took part in a panel discussion which highlighted issues that females in hip-hop struggle with in the music industry.

The panelists all revealed a common thread in their discussion, which was that hip-hop is a male dominated world. Women in hip-hop constantly have to fight to maintain respect in an industry where men call all the shots.
