Ne-Yo Sued in Atlanta Court For Missing Concert [COURT DOCUMENT]

Grammy award winning singer/songwriter Ne-yo (pictured above with one of his many honors) is in high demand to perform all around the world.? Sad thing is…he can’t be everywhere at the same time and apparently he missed an important event.

Now he and his booking agent are being sued in Atlanta’s Fulton County Superior Court by a disgruntled promoter after he kept fans waiting and was a no-show at a concert.

Maharaj is suing the singer for over $700,000 claiming Ne-Yo left him in a lurch after he didn?t show up – not once but twice!

According to court documents, Ne-Yo was paid $130,000 in advance to do a show in Trinadad. Roy Maharaj, founder of Tristar Promotions in Trinidad, claims he wired the money to Ne-Yo and also paid his booking agent $6,500 for booking the show.

Ne-Yo was scheduled to perform during ?Boxing Night? on Dec. 26, 2008 at a venue in the Port of Spain, Trinidad. Three weeks before the show, he rescheduled the performance to April 11, 2009, court documents said.

Rescheduling the date wasn?t the problem. The date was rescheduled and Ne-Yo STILL didn’t show up and never returned the money that was paid to him.

The total amount Maharaj is seeking in the suit is $709,977, which will cover those performance fees he paid in advance as well as the money Tristar Promotions spent to sell tickets and advertise the show.

According to court documents, Tristar sold 6,750 tickets ? all of which were refunded ? costing the company $296,111. Additional ticket refunds will cost Tristar $3,896, court documents said.

Tristar also spent $409,970 in securing the Trinidad venue ? the Queens Park Oval ? as well as on airfare, car rentals and hotel rooms, court documents show.

Maharaj and Tristar hired a lawyer out of Snellville who sent letters demanding payment from Ne-Yo, whose real name is Shaffer Smith, at an address in McDonough. Court documents also list Ne-Yo as having another address: the Ovation Buckhead Plaza Condos.

His booking agent, Troy ?Fats? Byam and BBM Booking and Management, is listed in court documents as having a DeKalb County address.
