R.I.P. ~ Farrah Fawcet

Farrah Fawcett, 62, blonde-haired sex symbol of the late 1970s most remembered for her appearance on bedroom posters and as one of the original “Charlie’s Angels”, died today at a hospital in Santa Monica, Calif., of cancer. I saw Barbara Walters interviewing her boo Ryan O’Neal the other day and he emotionally proclaimed that they would get married in her final days. In the statement released about her death, he is identified as her companion, not her husband so I’m not sure he was able to carry out those wishes.

Of the passing, O?Neal told People magazine: ?She?s gone. She now belongs to the ages. She?s now with her mother and sister and her God. I loved her with all my heart. I will miss her so very, very much. She was in and out of consciousness. I talked to her all through the night. I told her how very much I loved her. She?s in a better place now. She was with her team when she passed … Her eyes were open, but she didn?t say anything. But you could see in her eyes that she recognized us.?

Fawcet was diagnosed with rectal cancer in 2006, and though it went into remission, it reappeared last year. She wanted to keep her struggle private, but the National Enquirer published stories about her health, apparently gleaned from hospital employees who illegally pried in her records.

Her very public battle ended Tuesday morning at St. John’s Heath Center in Santa Monica, Calif.
