Singer D’Angelo Speaks of Feeling ‘Objectified’ During VooDoo Days – Tavis Smiley Interview [VIDEO]

Singer D’Angelo will give his first TV interview in over 10 years as he hits the sofa on ‘The Tavis Smiley Show,’ tonight (September 2, 2015).

It’s the first of a two-part interview, with the second installment airing Thursday (September 3, 2015).

D’Angelo will reportedly discuss his views on social issues and his upbringing in the Pentecostal Church, as well as his 2014 release Black Messiah.

In a snippet released, the elusive artist reveals how he felt like a piece of meat during the height of his career after his ‘Untitled’ video.

In the video above D’Angelo speaks about how the ‘Untitled’ video (where he appeared naked singing ‘How Does It Feel’) affected his life.

D’Angelo: “A lot of ladies were just screaming ‘Take It Off’ and I kinda felt like… for lack of a better thing… like a male stripper.  Or that I was expected to be that.”

Smiley:  “You felt ‘objectified’… like women feel everyday”.
