Atlanta-based rapper Shawty Lo is in the news this week after several sites have drawn comparisons between his ‘All My Baby Mamas’ reality show and OWN-TV’s recent announcement about another Atlanta man with similar issues getting a green light for his show.

On his show being stereotypical and/or ‘glorifying’ baby mama…
Basically, I can get what they mean by ‘glorifying’ because the name of my show was ‘All My Baby Mamas’… I had nothing to do with that. Period.? That was something the network came up with and I was telling them, I? didn’t like that name.
I have 11 kids and 10 baby mamas.? 11+10 is 21 and I wanted by show to be called, ‘Shawty Lo: Being 21.’
But they did what they wanted to do and I think that’s one reason we got backlash…

Shawty Lo on Baby Mama reality show controversy…
I heard a lot of artists on different reality shows that were on top at the time, were saying that the clip of my show created so much attention that they thought it was going to be the number one show on tv.
Interesting… an ‘inside job’ maybe?? Who knows.? Whatever the case, Shawty Lo was planning on showing how he managed his non-conventional family life. He explains:
It’s not the typical American family… like one baby mama, two kids.? I have a very large family (11 kids, 9 girls/2 boys) – basically it was going to show how I deal with my family just like? a regular family. We all have problems just like a regular family, but at the end of the day, we are together.? It wasn’t a show that was going to be fighting and all that, it was just how I managed my situation.
As for what’s next, Shawty Lo revealed that he’s working on a scripted projected that’s based on his situation. The unnamed project will be a comedy featuring Atlanta social media sensation DC McFly that focuses on more baby mama drama (portrayed by actors).?
No word on if Shawty Lo’s All My Baby Mama’s will be resurrected any time soon, but in light of all the OWN-TV baby mama drama, I think it’s worth revisiting.

For the record, I haven’t seen not one petition about the upcoming OWN-TV show about the ‘Father of 34’ being stereotypical and showing Black males in a bad light… and Williams even admitted he wasn’t in many of his kids lives as opposed to Shawty Lo, who is apparently there for ALL of his baby mamas.
But oh well, maybe that’s just the power of Oprah.
