According to TMZ, the queen of hip-hop soul says she never approved the controversial fried chicken ad that she shot for Burger King, at least not this version that was blasted on the Internet.
According to a statement released by the singer, what we saw was just a small part of the full video:
I agreed to be a part of a fun and creative campaign that was supposed to feature a dream sequence. Unfortunately, that’s not what was happening in that clip.
I understand my fans being upset by what they saw. But, if you?re a Mary fan, you have to know I would never allow an unfinished spot like the one you saw go out.
As I told y’all yesterday, Burger King pulled the spot from its YouTube site and has attempted to block others from uploaded it as well. ?They cited “licensing issues” as the reason and claimed that the ad would be returning online soon.
Mmmhmmm…. I bet someone at BK got fired over that. One thing’s for sure, if Burger King really paid Mary $2 million, they got their money’s worth & more in promotion!
